I need to K.I.S.S.

You know what I've noticed? the reason my hair is acting up so bad is because I have gone "LHCF Crazy", everything I see in here I emulate and most of them don't work for me...last year, when I was a K.I.S.S. girl, my hair thrived, I went from picture 1 to picture 2 in about 6 months...that's alot of growth and alot of rentention...but I can't do that anymore, and I think it's because I'm doing too much. DC this, preepoo that, rinse this, leave in that...I just need to go back to my old reggie and do what I need to do. So I'm starting a personal "K.I.S.S." challenge, just the bare basics and nothing else.... Pics below...

Things that have worked (my personal "hits and misses" lol):

yay: Oil rinses, weekly DC, CW, low-protein, protective styles
Nay: Milk (UGH!), Aphogee anything protein treatments, too many products mixed in anything...

So yea...that's what's up.

You have just read my mind. I said that in 2008 that I was going to K.I.S.S. in my regimen because that when my hair was it's longest and most healthy.

I know...I'm personally challenging myself to K.I.S.S. this year...which also means stepping away from LHCF and doing me for awhile.

I'm with you. I recently stopped pre-poo'ing becuz my hair doesn't need it. Now that I'm keeping it simple my hair seems to be doing much better, and it's less stress overall.

You have to do what's right for you. I had about 5 shampoos with conditioners to match etc. I realized that I need 2 of each.

1 moisture shampoo, 1 treatment shampoo
1 moisture conditioner, 1 with protein

The only thing I'm flexible on are the products I use to DC, and my scalp drops.

Like I have stated before, I think everyone has their own K.I.S.S. regimen :yep:

:yep::yep::yep::yep:

My hair is happy when I give it what it needs and leave it alone. LHCF can be a double-edged sword if you aren't careful. Prepooing, chelating and using diluted shampoo keep shampoo from wreaking havoc on my hair any more.I was able to see that it was the main cause of my dryness problem. I know my hair loves moisture and oil and little protein. My weakness is deep conditioners, because I used the same ones for over 2 years straight and they stopped giving me the same results, so I will always have multiple ones in rotation. My creativity stops after conditioners and oils/butters. Each one's own version of KISS is definitely the way to go.

Keeping it simple is the best thing I've done for my hair. The more simple, the better. I am always looking for a way to eliminate an unnecessary product or step in my routine. Stopping the PJ in me has brought me a long way.

Hi I am new and was wondering what the K.I.S.S method is? There is so much happening on this site that its almost overwhelming and I want to really help my hair to benefit and grow. Thanks in advance for your help with this

KISS means Keep It Simple Sweatheart (or stupid :lachen:) It just means not doing over complicated stuff to your hair. I can understand you being overwhelmed LOL I still am every now and then. All you have to do is ask. The people on this site are so nice, caring, and informative... someone will always help you or point you in the right direction to finding the information you need:yep:

This is EXACTLY what happened to me. The board has made me lose more hair than grow, lol. Now I'm back to my original regiman minus the flat iron, and it's all good:grin:

i think this is what i should do im new to this site and i i have been reading all weekend my friends were calling me asking if i was still alive  anyhoo with all that info i had to cut out a few things that i didnt think i could do or would be willing to, i have braids and removing them in a fortnight so its giving me time to reserach before getting things down im going to keep it simple though i just need to find a new dc cause the one i used before wasnt so good a new moisturising and clarifying poo cause the ones i use CON are not easily available here. otherwise all my other products are fine

K.I.S.S certainly has worked for me; I have simplified my regime to:

1. Prepoo with a hot oil treatment
1. Wash with Nexxus Therappe
2. Deep condition with Humectress
4. Rollerset

Take vitamins daily and relax every 3 months. I still use protein treatments, but not as often.

I need and have begun to KISS. I feel empowered by LHCF and now know what my hair needs and what it does not. I know how to handle stylists now where before I didn't even know all the questions I should be asking and just felt like some kind of punk and let them do whatever they wanted. On the other hand, I have done so much to my hair that I think it is confused at times and starts to act CRAZY. The LAST product that I will buy will be Kenra mc because I need a good high end moisturizing condish to add to my collection (which I have gotten rid of a lot of unnecessary products that I have accumulated over the past couple of months). And that's it.

There is a lot to be said for KISS. Sheer laziness is helping me KISS right now. :lachen:That and the cold weather has me not wanting to do a whole lot to my hair. I'm loving:

DC as a pre-poo w/oil & conditioner
poo and condition in-shower
airdrying

moisturizing and sealing daily

I'll throw in a rollerset as needed but that's pretty much it.

The simple method has really worked for me and it saves a lot of time too. My hair doesn't give me any problems anymore and it seems to be thriving. I just leave it alone and we get along just fine.

Good thread, I thought that I was the only one having these thoughts, but I think that I finally have a good routine down. I have always thougtht that the K.I.S.S method was the best, but I since I recently joined this board I was introduced to so many products that the PJ in me came back to life. And I wanted to just buy and use everything including MN.:perplexed

But I have learned alot that will help me K.I.S.S. This is how I achieve the most consistent results:

Protein DC 1x month -ORS Mayo or Profectiv growth masque
Moisture DC 2x week- LustraSilk Cholesterol

Shampoo 1x week (lather 1x)- Suave Humectant
Silicon Mix
John Frieda Frizz-ease
Giovanni Direct Leave-in or Infusium 23
Coconut oil as sealant

Profectiv healthy ends or Cholesterol cond. nightly

It may seem like alot but it is a breeze b/c I like all these products and I am comfortable with the condition of my hair.:yep:
