Hi ladies, I pressed my hair last week and washed it several times, my curls bounced back but my hair still has a silky feel to it and my hair isn't normally this silky. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone and do you think its heat damaged, would a reconstructor help? I'm at a lost for words, this never happened to me before :(

Did you clarify post flat iron?

If your curls bounced back there may just be residual product left on your strands and it changing the feel of you hair. I would clarify do a protein treatment followed by a moisture DC and chill in a bun or another PS for a week.

Blairx0, I did clarify and followed up with conditioner. I'll do what you suggested, what protein treatment do you recommend?

syncerelyhis, my hair is on the dry/coarse side and my hair never feels this silky.

Maybe I am misunderstanding.....but that sounds like a good thing. ( I say that because you say your curls bounced back) Perhaps it is the conditioner you used? If you had heat damage your curls would not have bounced back.

syncerelyhis, I can understand your take but my hair doesn't have the fullness that it usually does, looks exactly the same but the fullness is missing and I don't like that. I'm thinking the conditioner could be the culprit, I used Matrix and I haven't used that brand in years. I'm just praying that my fullness returns. Do you have any protein treatments you can recommend?

The same thing happens to me after I have my hair flatironed. The first time it happened, I thought the stylist must have put something awesome in my hair and it had a residual effect. But I flatironed my hair twice at home, and had the same silkiness both times. It goes away and I haven't experienced any heat damage at all.

I know you don't like it OP, but I love love my hair after my first wash post-straightening. My curls clump better, my hair looks shiner, and it's just a little easier. I'm always a bit sad when my hair goes back to normal .

ckisland, I just want this residue out. It reminds me of when I got my Brazilian Keratin treatment and my hair wasn't as full, I kept waiting for it treatment to wear off and it never did so I ended up big chopping my hair.

Awwwww!!! I do a lot of wash n'gos and I think increasing your washes will help your hair get completely back to normal faster. You might even consider DCing every 3-4 days. Just makes sure you get enough protein in to prevent mushiness. Also remember you didn't do a treatment on your hair so there's nothing to really wear off. I think heat flattens your cuticle layers (usually a good thing) which would make your hair feel silkier and less thick.

I love love love the Aphogee 2 Minute Reconstructor. It has never let me down.
