I have tried every method possible to get my fine but very coarse 4b hair to straighten. I am now under the impression that I might actually have to go "old school" and press it. ( My FHI are useless!!! )
So, somebody please post a technique inclued with products that I would need to successfully press my hair. I usually wear my hair cornrowed under my wig, but I wanted to change up a little bit for my family reunion this weekend......

TIA

I don't have a pressing technique to offer but I would like to know more about why the flat ironing & FHI is yielding poor results?

What products do you use before flat ironing?
How big is the flat iron?
Are you able to get down really close to your roots?
What makes the result look bad to you?
what heat setting?
Have you ever seen good results with any flat iron?

Please see the responses below..

What products do you use before flat ironing? I washed my hair and dc last night. I put BB Oil moisturizer followed by IC heat protectant. I let it air dry in two cornrows. This morning, I put a little more heat protectant and blow dried it out.
How big is the flat iron? My flat irons are maybe an inch...I can't remeber, they are not big at all...might even be 3/4in....
Are you able to get down really close to your roots? Yes.
What makes the result look bad to you? it looks dull and lifeless...my ends look :perplexed
what heat setting? 300
Have you ever seen good results with any flat iron? Actually, I had good results with Goldn Hot back in the day.
