life ain't easy!!
OK here I go.......... Last night I washed my hair wth shampoo and conditioned with a bunch of CONDITIONERS & coconut milk I wanted to get rid of. After the deep CON my hair was shiny but I couldn't run my comb through my hair like when I use motions so anyways I twisted and rolled with pink lotion ( I know many ladies don't like it but thats what I use for my braidouts) my hair and let It air dry. Today my hair was a twisted mess. I need some help with air dried styles so please feel free to HELP /images/graemlins/confused.gif PLEASE!! I see some ladies use mango butter how is it? I would use flexirods but they are costly here 6 for 3.69 see what I mean. I just want something nice /images/graemlins/laugh.gif. HELP ME!!!!!

I do have solar rolers!!

I love the blow drier /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I used to love the blow dryer and curling iron too, BUT NOW I AM FREE AND LOVING IT!!!!!

Maybe you overshampooed. If you use too many shampoos that will surely dry out the hair. Were the shampoos at least moisturizing poos? I wonder if coconut oil is enough of a conditioner? It is just oil, but it will make your hair shine. Did you use anything else? A regular conditioner should soften and detangle your hair.

This is my regimen, perhaps it will work for you too. I have 4a/4b relaxed hair. THe back is at the top of my shoulders, the front is at my chin.

I washed my hair last night and right now it is in a ponytail and straight as if I flat ironed it. I need to start posting pics. Anywho. . .

Shampoo: Cream of Nature Ultra Moisturizing or Botanoil (last night's choice)
Conditioner: Cream of Nature or Keraphix (last night's choice)
Towel Dry
Section hair and smooth Nexxus Headress over section then roll section in magnetic roller. Complete the entire head. Leave it alone, 3 hours later, take out rollers add coconut oil and brush into 3 pony tails. Place huge rollers at the end of the ponytails and go to sleep. In the morning I spritz with African Pride Braid Sheen and add generous amounts of Mango Butter. Brush into my ponytail (this is my fall/winter stlye).

Tonight I plan to place into 3 ponytails and put rollers at the ends.

For me it is the HEADRESS + the magnetic rollers that make my hair straight. However, the moisturizing shampoo and conditioners detangle my hair, the headdress does not have to do too much more detanagling.

Girl, keep me posted on your progress. I think getting rid of direct heat is the most important step in healthy relaxed hiar.

Thanks bajanplums1 all of my stylist used the mag rollers I just can't do it. It's so hard! Maybe i'll try the ones that have the snap on top!

EXACTLY, I tried with those pins and almost gave up on air drying, but now I use the ones with the covers and it is GREAT!!

I can send you some magnetic rollers they are only .99 to $1.19 here.

As for the mango butter. I love it, but it works best for me when I lightly spritz first with the Afrian pride Braid Sheen. The mango butter is thick but with a bit of braid sheen, when I brush my hair to distribute it, my hair is SHINY, SOFT, frizz free and straight.

Hi Hair-twin /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I've used Mango Butter and it works ok. I've never used it on wet hair before. I used it to do a dry set. You know my hair was airdried and then I used the mango butter and rolled my hair with solar rollers. It worked very well. It may work on wet hair and then roll it. Here's a pic

Some people really like mango butter and then some people like it at first and then it doesn't work well anymore. I'll use it if I'm wearing my hair in a ponytail sometimes, but that's really it. I just like the smell.

Again, I use heat, so I'm not really sure what will work best.

I agree with Bajanplums1. Headress is wonderful! Add it to magnetic rollers and one can only have successful results, without heat!

Hi brownstallion /images/graemlins/wave.gif--congratulations on your engagement, btw /images/graemlins/smile.gif! My favorite styles when I airdry are braid-outs and pincurls. I have pics of both in my album, but my inspiration for these styles were ArmyQT and SouthernGirl, respectively. Here are links to their styles--I hope you ladies don't mind!

HTH and good luck!

It just sounds like you did too much. Less is more. Try a simple poo-conditioner program or just a conditioner wash. Find an item or two that'll become your staple leave-in and then an oil that works well for your hair to lock in the moisture. Twist-outs, braid-outs, bantus are all great airdrying methods. If you want something more sleek you do airdry rollersets or use the ponytail method. It takes time, patience and commitment to your goal. Your hair will most reward your diligence /images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Re: Mango Butter
It's nice. I just don't feel the need for it any longer personally. Elasta's MB has protein in it, so I think it contributed to a little minor breakage for me. Oils seems to work better for me than butters. Let your hair decide.

Will this work on natural hair???????????????????

Sure, it just looks a bit different. Your will have more natural texuter. But you'll be surprised by what you achieve. The tension really helps straighten the hair out a bit.
