I have a fungal infection on my scalp that has caused my hair to look fried and has broken it off in that section severly. It's only in one section though. Hopefully the topical cream I have will fix the problem and maybe I can baby that part of my hair before I have to cut it off. I guess only time will tell.:(

Do you know how you got it?

Please tell!

OMG, I hope the cream works! Please Lord, be there with LHLuva!

I know you were doing daily cowashes, do you think that your hair may have not been dryin adequately causing the bacteria to fester?

It started a couple of months ago and I thought I just had itchy scalp becuase sometimes it would itch and then sometimes it wouldn't. I got worse this week and I examined my hair and saw how fried it looked. I went to my stylist and let her look at it and she said I might have to get it cut off but I told her let's see what this cream is going to do first. I will not do one big cut. Gradual trims on that side yes but I will try this cream out fist.

Locks I think the co washing kinda helped because it was breaking bad at first. I never thought I would put coochie cream on my head but one night it was burning and itching so bad I had to and guess what it worked. It slowed down the itching and burning.

Girl you got to do what you got to do!

Let us know, and I pray the cream works out!

Sounds lke something I had. I had to go to the doctor's to get oral meds. In my case it wasn't ringworm but you need to get it checked out to rule it out in your case. Luckily enough for me it happened in the nape of my hair almost near the edges. The rest of my hair covered it up. My hair did grow back in but it took months. Please go see your doctor so it does not spread.

I have an appt with the derm again on the 22nd and she will do a scalp analysis and probably perscribe oral meds then. She is trying to work me in earlier but she is always booked solid but I'm waiting by the phone for the office to call.

I am sure the cream will help. be careful with internal anti-fungals though. When I was researching to learn how everyone was getting all that faster NG from using topical anti-fungals, I learned that the internal ones can be hard on the liver if used too long.

Please try to baby the area before cutting it though. Is it in a area that you can hide in an updo or with curls?

I'm praying the crème works for you. I have always had terribly dry scalp. dr. told me that I had a fungus/bacteria on my scalp. he gave me some type of lotion something, but it didn't work.

I used to be a firm believer in putting grease on my scalp, until I read that it made my situation worse. dandruff shampoos also dried out my hair.

I used betadine scrub on my scalp. its that brown stuff that dr.'s use in the hospital. its anti-bacterial/anti-fungal.
betadine, co-washes and no grease, along with some prayer, worked miracles.

I went in today and I found out I have seborrheic dermatitis. I don't have oral meds but I have a medicated anti-fungal shampoo and a topical liquid and cream. I can't have any chemical process for about two months. My scalp is producing too much oil or something. It is like an adult version of cradle caps. I don't have to cut my hair either(yay). It will get better as I use the meds and shampoo. Prayerfully it will work. Thanks ladies for your support.

I'm sorry to hear this, but don't give up yet, Ok don't laugh I'm serious but have you tried Shapley's MTG on it? That's actually what it was developed for (in horses) but it really works.

Those should be great! Not only will they help your problem, but they boost hair growth, as well. Many ladies use products like that for faster growth, although they don't have seborrheic dermatitis.

good, I hope it works out.

Thanks ladies. I'm glad it's not something worse. By the way ladies, the cream I have is almost the same as monistat. The liquid solution is something else though.

This is so true. One of the side effects of the liquid solution is excessive hair growth. And on the bright side (if there is one) I have to: stretch my relaxer, take hair vits, deep condtion often. I guess all of this with help me retain length too. I used to relax every 6-8 weeks but I can't anymore. I guess I will now truly see the benefits of stretching huh?

I dont know if you use MTG or the Boundlless Tresses but if you use that it
will clear it up right away and the hair will grow back. I had the same thing with the itching and the flakes then the hair would start to come out in spots but I started using MTG then swithched to the BT and it stopped instantly. Please give this a try. It must be the sulfur that kills the fungus. Good luck and my hair is growing like crazy.
