TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
Daily working out is making my twists look horrible!:ohwell: I may have to wash n go while I work out. I have a lot of weight to lose, but I still want to look feminine! Any suggestions?

Can you pull your twists up into a bun? Or can you do two strand flat twists? Not sure how long your hair is.

I'm using fake hair/extensions until my real hair is long enough to put into a messy ponytail/bun after it gets frizzy. I do this now with the fake hair to maintain a feminine look.

I was just gonna suggest what faithVA said.

I have my hair in twists/cornrows all the time and all I do is use a head band to put my twists up like I was making a puff - just to get them off my face and neck.

if I have cornrows going straight back, I just pin the ends up so they dont get sweaty.

I wash and condition in the twists and just retwist each one ... easy peasy

no need to abort either weight loss or PSing !!!!

I have to try these braid/twists everyone talks about. I can't wash in twists and I would love to wear twists for more than 2 weeks. :yep:

I'm with you, DD. I work out almost every day. I can't wear twists (my hair is too soft and too sparse, imo) I struggle with trying to look cute and still protective style.

I'm trying to work on getting my make up and jewelry right and then put my hair in a bun or french braids.

I had this same issue when I was working out hardcore daily before I got pregnant. My solution was weave it up..senagelese twists, kinky twists, box braids ect was what worked for me...i get great retention from these types of styles.

I workout alot too. For like a month i had my hair in mini twists. I could still wash my hair and style it with no problems after working out. Maybe you u should consider those or if you dont feel your hair is long enough for that, try flat braid styles or flat twists. Or like another poster said, weave it up if none of that makes your comfortable i.e box braids, kinky twists, yarn braids, senagelese twists, sew-ins etc...

good question...i have the same problem. will definitely try the braid/twist to see if it works--nothing else does. my hair gets wet and all but the crown comes loose--regardless of length

i don't think you have to totally do wng. if your hair is the length in your pic, it looks like you can rinse/cowash after your workout and do a few large twists or braids, then take them loose in the morning and finger fluff. or you could do smaller, individual braids that you pin up or back or even do in bantu knots. you could try rinsing with a stocking/wig cap on to keep the braids from frizzing and pin it back up.

and don't worry about the whole feminine thing. its about how YOU feel and what you project from the inside--more than make up and clothes, etc. i've had my head shaved almost bald and still felt every bit feminine. your hair is a part of you, but it doesn't define you or your femininity. just a thought. ;-)

I think that you may want to try box braids - even if it's on natural hair, it's the best way to keep your hair un-frizzy. And, personally, I think it's better at retention than twists. You can also leave them in longer (and wash while they're in without having to worry about tangles :D )

Great suggestions, ladies. I currently cannot braid to save my life, so braids are out. I think I will alternate with flat twists or do 2 pony puffs until I can bun.:ohwell: I will be trying to learn how to do longer lasting PS like cornrows and french braids.

Get some bobby pins & pin it up into an updo or just close to your head.

I can't braid (cornrow) either, but braids like plaits seem to last longer on my hair than twists. They look presentable for longer.
