I MADE IT.....

...to my 16wk post relaxer day,:yay: , I've never stretched this long before, and this is really good for over all hair health, I didn't know I had so much NG so I had to correct a few areas. I usually go no less than 8wks and atleast by wk 10-12. I will continue to relax every 16wks, and so will my daughter, no more 8wk touch-ups for us. My hair feels really good no thin ends, thank God, I used Organics by Africas Best IMO its good for children or pple who would like to texturized because the regular strength processes slow for me, i had it in for like 32 min and it still didn't process some areas to well so I washed it out, neutralized, conditioned w/ the hair mayonaise as suggested and did a DC w/Capilo Sole & Cinnamin. I took a morning nap and when I woke up I corrected the underprocessed areas w/my last bit of TCB bone straight, , so happy I didn't throw it out. It never went wrong for me but wanted to try something that offered more of the natural goodies in it. I think I will continue to use my TCB, as they say "if it ain't broke why fix it". This was the first time in my entire life of having underprocessed hair, , so I won't be using that again for that reason, plus it left my hair looking drier than my already relaxed hair, , TCB has never done that neither. I also used the entire jar, noone said being 16 wks post relaxer would cause you to need a whole relaxer, LOL, I'm so happy I didn't purchase the touch-up only kit. I gained 2-2 1/2 inches, :clapping: and I retained everything, w/no breakage during rinsing or when I combed through the conditioner. So my hair has strengthened, and has gotten much fuller. I really would like to try Vitale, but I don't know. Well now I will break out the Maxiglide, Yes it is time to treat my self to some bouncy swinging straight hair, which I only use heat 3x's a year, after a relaxer to enjoy my new length for like only 3 days, then back to rollersets, and pin-curls.:D

I've been thinking about stretching beyond my usual 8-10 wk touch-up cycle. I've gotten so used to having a lot of new growth to relax (with the help of braids) that I can't bring myself to perm the little 1/2" of unstretched new growth that I have. I'll start by shooting for 12-13 wks. I've discovered that the key to stretching for me is moisture, a good softening leave-in, and a wide tooth comb. In my more ignorant days, I'd be trying to rake through my new growth with the same comb that I used right after a perm. I'm going to try to stretch without braids.

You go girl...16 weeks is a long time, I know when I first started stretching I could not go beyond 10 weeks! Now I do 6-7 months! I'm happy for you! You'll see how much growth you'll have if you continue stretching!:)

I'm transitioning and my 16th week will be this Sunday. I wanted to say that I have about 1.75-2.25 inches of new growth. Congratulations on the stretch and length of new growth!!

Thanks everyone!
SandySea: You can do it girl, moisture is the key, very little manipulation, and keeping the hair strong. The main thing you'll need is a very good DC so that you can comb through and detangle w/no problem. I kept my own hair braided, 5 box platts or just pulled back into a pony tail my last few weeks, especially since I wash every 3 days, I did do an occasional rollerset after dicovering Silicone Mix :D (the bomb) it just made stretching a breeze for me.

I have always wondered - does it make that much difference to your hair stretching to 16 weeks rather than 12? The longest I have stretched to is 12 weeks and that has made a massive difference to my hair compared to when I used to stretch to 6 weeks but is the difference between a 12 week and a 16 week stretch a big difference too?? If so what are the differences?Someone persuade me cos I wanna do it!!

I tried to leave a comment in your album, but it wouldn't allow me to, i just wanted to say that both your texturized and natural hair are beautiful, you did a really good job, its a perfect texturizer, its a shame I had to transition because of some silly hairstylist processing my hair wrongly. Don't worry you will reach your hair length goals soon, concerntrate on the health and the length will come. btw i hope you didn't mind me adding you my my fokti friends list, i really would like to track your progress. happy growing

My original stretch was 12wks, but when I reached it I said to myself "If I can make it to 16wks then I would only relax 3x's a year appose to 4", and somewhere around that time I recieved some of my dominican product, plus since I wasn't in a torcher zone yet I figure why not try it. I did very litte shedding on wash say but what's 12 hairs if you haven't combed in 3 day, you know, that was pretty good. So I say go for it I believe anything is possible if you want it bad enough. As long as you have really good moisturizing products and strengthening products in your routine, Plus you need hairstyles that don't cause alot of manipulations. If I could make it to 5 or 6 months then we would be talking business, LOL, one day maybe.:)

Thanks alot, and the funny thing is that my screen name is actually the meaning of my real name and I actually do have wide eyes, LOL.

Congrats on 16 weeks. I am shooting for 20 weeks without using a sew in weave, so we will see. Your progress is inspiring!
