and I don't know what to do. This morning when I was CW my hair as usual I noticed that I was losing way more strands than I usually do. When I went to brush it a lot came out. I don't know if it's breakage or anything because my hair has no chemical in it and it's really healthy. Should I try an Aphogee treatment? The only new thing I can think that I have been using is the Salerm 21. I have been using the Capilo stuff but I've been using that for over a month now so I don't think it's that. Maybe I should give the Salerm 21 a rest? What should I do?

If it was shedding, i just went throught the same thing about a week ago. I mean massive shedding and hair ALL OVER the place. It was getting to the point where I was so afraid to comb it b/c hair would be everywhere; very depressing. I just found my fix a few nights ago. (I had tried the aphogee 2 minute reconstructor when it first started, but it slowed down and started right back a few days afterwards, so had to try something stronger)

First I used Suave Clarifying to get rid of all the buildup from CW, then followed it by a moisturizing shampoo (Creme of Nature). Then I bought the Aphogee Treatment for Damaged Hair (purple writing i think, but its in the square bottle; i only bought a sample pack b/c i didn't know if it would work or not, and if i am not mistaken, the whole bottle costs 19.99 - i may have read it wrong, could have been 9.99...just know i didn't get it)...After sitting under the dryer with the aphogee treatment, i rinsed it out and did a deep conditioner with my homemade concoction of some deep conditioners, cheapie conditioners, EVOO, jojoba oil, and honey. Put a cap on and sat under the dryer for about 30 minutes. I was still a little skeptical and thought that when I went to detangle after rinsing the conditioner out, there would be no change. To my surprise, no hair came out.:) I was almost scared b/c i was at least expecting a strand or two to come out!!..I have decided that I am going to use the 2 minute reconstructor every 2 weeks (would like to use it every week after washing but i don't know if that's too much protein or not) to make sure it doesn't get to that state again.....If your problem is shedding, that should help, but I am not sure if this will work for breakage (if that's what it is)...some of the other ladies may be able to chime in.

ATL,

When I went to brush it a lot came out.

Everyone is different but brushing is a no no :nono: for me. and a few other ladies in this board.
I just use a large tooth comb it has only 7 teeth pulling through my hair.
Imagine 25+ bristle tugging at your strands.

I noticed a difference when I cut out brushing within a few weeks, esp you you feel ur hair is damaged it will make it worst too much manipulation

I'm guessing it's the brushing too...especially if you're brushing wet hair. That's a big no-no for me.
Breakage: Before doing something intense like ApHOGEE, I would consider clarifying and doing lighter protein i.e. Nexxus Keraphix or ApHOGEE's 2 min recon.
Shedding: I would clarify and do Aubrey's GPB, and consider using a garlic poo for the next wash.
The remedy ultimately depends on whether it's shedding or breakage though, IMO.

no it's not the brushing...brushing actually saved my hair

combing breaks my hair really really bad...

i fingercomb it with conditioner in it and then when i get out of the shower i use a brush to distribute product...

thanks for all the tips!:) i will try the aphogee

ITA! Using a brush is a major no-no for me as well. In general they are to used sparing if at all and very gently to smooth the hair.

my hair did this last Sunday. Protein treatment helped a great deal. I am still breaking some, but not as much.
