Well if you wait too long you may suffer from underprocessed hair which we all know can cause breakage. I would do it soon with some else who can see the new growth better or go to a professional.
If you wait to long you will have a chunk of hair that has new growth at the root, straight area, and the new growth that you missed. A strand of your hair would look like this:
XXXX-----XXXXX-------
The X is new growth and the --- is the relaxed part.
THe meeting of these two textures could cause breakage. I would address this sooner or later. Just try to apply the relaxer to the part that was not previously relaxed to avoid overprocessing.
