I just tried to do a hot oil treatment with EVOO...

OUCH, I am so sorry. Maybe some neosporin in that area will help the area heal faster. If you see blistering go to your family doc. hth

and I burnned the smith out of the crown of my head. I haven't lost any hair yet, but my head is on swole. What can I put on it to soothe the pain??

Oh my...why don't you first try to rinse your hair with cool water. Let the water just pour over your scalp. Do that for about 2 minutes. Then I would use some Aloe Vera Gel from the fridge directly on the area you burned and it should soothe it nicely.

Please do me a favor. Don't ever heat up the EVOO that hot again. You could burn the follicules in your hair and jack yourself up!

I didn't even realize that it was that hot. the cup and the oil were barely even warm to the touch.

How will I know if I have folicle damage, will my hair start to fall out?

I dont think your hair will fall out. Your scalp will probably be tender for 7-10 days. When did this occur? Have you noticed any blisters?

:naughty: Always, always test it on your wrist. The same way that you would do a warmed baby bottle. That way you will know if it's too hot for you. I did that one time and that was the last time I did that without testing it out. I doubt your hair is going to fall out. Did it blister up? If it blistered up, then yeah, you might have a slight problem. I hope you are okay though.

It dosent' look like I'm going to blister. I was in the shower when this happened, so I was able to get in some water relatively quick.

Good call on testing on the wrist. I will definately do that from now on.

Lesson learned.

after i heat up my evoo, i stick my finger in the center of the bottom of the bowl. that way i know if it is too hot. i had to start doing this 'cause one time before i mixed evoo and honey and heated it. the evoo at the top of the bowl was warm, but the honey at the bottom was boiling hot! always check first.

I heated up a cup of evoo in the microwave. I took it our and headed to the shower to do my treatment. I thought that I had given it enough time to cool. I was wrong. I poured the hot oil right on my crown. It hurt so bad, that I didn't know what to do for a second. Then I remembered that I was in the shower, so I leaned my head back and let the water cool my scalp. When I was over the inital shock, I made the water colder and soaked my head for a little bit.

It burnt baaaad. I think that it was the worst feeling I've ever felt.

I never heat up my oils in the microwave, I always apply them room temp. and then sit under a cap and dryer for about 10 min. That is very dangerous since EVOO will warm so quickly and burn while using it to cook with, if you do this again make sure you test if on your wrist or even just a finger test, plus you have to make sure to stir it up incase there are hot spots.:(

I heat mine up too but it's never that hot that I get a burn or something. You have to watch it carefully when it's warming and warm in intervals. Oils can heat up very quickly.
