As I was sitting here still bumming over the nonsense with my SO. I just ran my hands through my hair and noticed that it feels really good!

I got up this morning and washed and deep conditioned my hair. Then i put on some mosturizer, I air dried it and I was checking to see if it was still damp so I could curl it with the curling iron;the only heat i will allow myself now except the bonnet dryer for deep conditioning and 5 minutes of drying on low to help speed up my airdrying, and only twice a week after I wash, deep condition and mosturize. My hair is basically dry now except a little dampness at the root. But I am amazed at the softness of my hair and it is actually shiny! And not all brittle and poufy looking like it was just last month. I really want to cry! I have about 1/2 inch new growth already and it isn't sounding all crackly and popping when I run my comb through it. Yay! I'm so happy right now I don't even care if my hair gets long (well I do) but I haven't been to the hair salon since I got that overprocessed perm and my hair has not only stopped breaking off in little bits that I see all over the sink and my clothes. But even when I wash and style I'm seeing less than a pea sized amount of hair when I ball it all up. I don't see hair in the drains or anything. Wow! This is something to be happy about! And I'm so glad I found this site because a lot of the things you guys recommend are helping me so much!

I wash every 3 days. I use Dove shampoo. Recently I noticed my head was itching by day two so I bought a clarifying shampoo by St. Ives.

I deep condition for 20 minutes with the UBH conditioner. It does make your hair hard. But the protein builds the hair up and it stopped my massive breakage dead in it's tracks. I rinse with a domican conditioner called Lefair for slip. It's pink and it's the stuff they use in the salon I can tell by the smell. I towel dry a bit then a little of John Freida's Frizz-Ease from the Relaxed line and UBH mosturizer. I allow my hair to air dry loose, I don't do rollersets or anything I'm too lazy. When it's dry I curl with the curling iron. My hairstyle last for 2 days on day three I will twist it up or damp it a bit the night before and do a lazy braid out (two-cornrows)

As far as protein treatments go. I did an aphogee treatment after my last relaxer and I keep it on hand just in case...I'm not sure but I may use within the next 3 weeks to get ready for my next touch up.

I think the most important part of the regime is restricting the amount of heat I use. I know that different things work for different people but I think that not using a blow-dryer has helped a lot. Since I wash every 3 days the only heat I am using is the bonnet dryer for conditioning and the curling iron 2wce a week. My hair was crackling dry before, You could hear popping crackling sounds when I use to comb it and I had to relax by week 7 or my new growth was unmanageable. Now I am at week 6 and I know I can stretch for at least another 3 weeks. I make sure to mosturize and I restrict my brushing to an absolute minumum. Also being more aware of my hairs needs. The last time my hair grew long I didn't really know what caused it to do so and I ignored the signs that things were going bad. I just didn't pay attention to my hairs needs. From now on I will and I know that I may have to alter my regime depending on the season, my lifestyle etc.

I saw my mother today and she was running her hands through my hair cuz she always use to say I had "trashy hair" not in a mean way but she meant dry like straw! She was amazed at the sheen and softness and she couldn't believe I was at 6 weeks. So for now I'm happy, I know the length will come eventually.
