What can I do. I have never had this problem before I am clueless.

I had been washing and conditoning my hair with Noruel Wheat Germ 2x a week after I texturized ob 08/01/04. I used Surge to detangle and as a leave-in. I have been wearing a bun the majority of the time. Except for the 5 days I wore my hair out and curly. I make my bun using Garnier Fructis Fiber Gum Putty.

Thanks,

Auntybe

Maybe the bun is too tight.

Also, a few people have mentioned that Surge gives them problems. "Possible side effects include.....[blahblahblah]....in a few of our patients."

I'm sorry to hear about your thin edges. Have you tried Surging your hair line?

I'm not familiar with the "Gum Putty" stuff, but do you think it's too sticky for your hair. It may not be sticky at all, but it sounds sticky.

Are you brushing your edges alot to pull it back in your bun? Sometimes, our edges can get stressed from constant pulling.

Have you tried maybe smoothing your hair is different directions? For example, alternate your parts, or alternate where your wearing your bun. Are you brushing? Try using a "healthier" gel for smoothing. Hope that makes sense.

My stylist told me some monyths ago that my own thinning edges problem was caused by pulling my hair too tight to wear buns, ponytails and such. I would brush my edges.

Now, I simply smooth my hair back. It has made a real difference.

Choose a different style for a while and give it a break. Scalp message with an essential oil blend (Rosemary diluted) daily to stimulate the blood flow. The Rosemary oil also aids in hair growth. Once your edges are back, change up on styles. Having your hair in one style all the time can cause breakage to any part of your head. You can use Aloe Vera Gel to slick down your edges if you want a natural alternative. HTH

I've been mixing half Surge and half WGO with about two tablespoons of Castor oil. I massage this daily around my hairline. I had some breakage from my last braids and this is working very well.

wat are you wearing at nite? my satin bonnet used to rise at nite and rub against my edges, making them thin out and leaving me near bald. now i moisturize every nite and tie it down with a satin scarf before i put the bonnet on

They never act right. That elastic lacy trim irritates me and never stays put. I also thought it would cause thinning and rarely use it. I usually fold the elastic part upward so it won't directly rub against my hair. I prefer to use it with wet sets and flexi sets.

Thanks for the input everybody. I am going to wear my hair out of the bun more. I am going to try to make the bun with aloe vera gel next week for work instead of the "putty". I willtry surging my hair line to see if that does make a difference.

thanks again,

Auntybe
