OMG!!! i love my tree braids!! :drunk::bouncegre

i got them saturday night and i am in love. i decided to go ahead and get them after seeing donspeekdefeat's fotki page and looking at all the beautiful pics of her braids. (i had to have some!) i've decided this will be the first of many transition styles i'm going to experiment with over the next year. i've also purchased the OCT products and will be using them weekly. (well, maybe inbetween styles) my braider said that i "shouldn't" wash my braids because they'll slip. Anyone have any suggestions? i absolutly cannot go without washing my hair for more than 2 weeks!!!! i don't want my money or beautiful style to go to waste.

I can't reallly see the hair properly, but they look nice from what I can see.
I love tree braids there soo versatile, cuz their braids, but they look like a weave :)
Hope you have fun with them girly

I can't really see the pic either, only your lovely face! If you want to wash without water, do a baking soda wash. You can put it on your scalp dry and ruffle it up. It'll look like a cloud or smoke but it's good for cleansing. Some cancer patients can't wash their hair either and they do this to try and retain the hair longer from the chemo treatments.

ok i hope these pics are alot better. i also posted more on my fotki. thanks for the feedback ladies!

Happy growing!

I had twists while deployed, and did this to avoid "some" slippage and manipulating.

Materials: 8 ponytail holders and 2 Fishnet style hair nets.

Secure the hair into at least 8 ponytails.
Tie all the hair down and in place using a big "fishnet".

Rinse or shampoo. use a detangler or conditioner as usual. All with a net in place.

You may want to change nets between shampooing and conditioning. Rise the shampoo net thoroughly after shapooing, and place on head whle hair is drying in place.

I love your Tree Braids. Dang...now I want some.

A suggestion for washing your hair/style:
I would do like Yorlooksmybiz said and put hair into eight braids before you wash and use the fishnet. But I would recommend trying baking soda instead of shampoo. Dilute 1 1/2 tablespoons baking soda in 2 cup warm water. Shake until all is dissolved. (I use a color applicator bottle to apply to my hair)

Rinse braids under water
Then squirt the baking soda mix unto your scalp/cornrows
Let sit for 1 minute
Then rinse scalp/cornrows very well (for a good long minute)

I love how baking soda cleans my scalp/hair.

thanks ladies! i'm going to try that method and let you know if it works out for me

OMG, those are so beautiful.

I think those things are so pretty, but I'm scared how your hair is maintained in that style? Is it only for short hair? My hair is shoulder length?

I want to get them to but have no clue where to go also I think i am now allergice to fake hair human and synthethic. I wish I could do something with my hair its so boring right now. I still love my natural but I wish I can get a break from doing hair everyday. Your hair looks really nice I really like it so now what does it look lke in the back can you swoop it up and give your neck a rest when it gets hot?

Hey Trudy,

You are probably just allergic to the alkaline base that on human and synthethic hair. On http://www.growafrohairlong.com/braidreg.html website it has info and a video showing how to remove the chemical.

REMOVING THE ALKALINE BASE
You have an option to take the alkaline base off the Kanekalon hair by soaking the extended hair in vinegar and water. A sink full of water, 1 cup of regular vinegar. Soak 15 minutes, rinse, air dry. Spray braid spray on this hair piece by piece when apply to your hair. The alkaline base irritate the scalp in some.

thanks so much...my hair is all in cornrows, with the exception of the 3 rows of micro's in the back. none of my natural hair is exposed. i wanted this style because my hair will not be manipulated AT ALL, only the human weave is styled. this gives my hair a true rest and it's protected. i'll be using a bakingsoda wash or astringent to clean my scalp every week. i also ordered the OCT pack and will be using it while my hair is braided. (i can't wait for it to get here) in the mean-time i'm using Cantu shea leave-in conditioner on my scalp every-other day to keep my braided hair conditioned.

Hi,
i have had tree braids before and love them - See Fotki...

I was able to wash mine but more towards the end of the styling period. Then i had the hair up most of the time. If you want to, just keep yr scalp clean by dry shampooing...

How to:

Take each parting and apply very watered down shampoo with yr fingers.

Give it a good massage and hold hair up and let water run on scalp only - u may need help.

Towel dry by dabbing...

Try that...
