Oh My Gawwww! I walked in the office from getting my coffee and some lady was using our copier...

Her: Oh my gosh, ur hair is sooo purrty, is that a WEAVE??
Me: :look::ohwell:, errmm, thank you, no..it's mine (as I slyly dodged her grasp!!).
Her: Your so lucky, you don't have to wear a weave like me. :look:

I'm thinking to myself, luck? You can grow your hair too. :look:

Happy Hump Day! :spinning:

But, don't you kind of think that if you don't let 'them' touch your hair, they'll just think you're lying? When my hair was at it's longest, I went on and let people touch it, otherwise, I felt like not doing so would prove their point. Back in college, when I DID wear weave, I was VERY nervous for people to touch my hair. Now that I rocking it real, I just take it as a compliment.

I honestly don't care what ppl think, random folks are NOT touching my hair. :nono: I don't feel the need to prove anything to anyone by letting them put their hands on me. To me, that's like someone asking if my breasts are fake and me letting them cop a feel just to prove that all 3 D's are mine. :D  (Alil extreme, but you get my point :p).

People's hands are nasty for one, plus I feel like it's an invasion of personal space (if I don't know you like that). But that's just me. :)

I agree. I dont have to prove anything....dont know where their hand has been so no way its coming near my hair.

That was funny (how you handled it)and the soooo not funny (what she did)!

I am trying to come to terms that the longer any of our hair gets the more hands that will go after it. :ohwell:

I think you are going to have to show us your matrix move so that we can stay out of jail.:yep:

Any suggestions on how to handle this when someone comes up behind you without warning and does that?!?!?

Yes, this is a major pet peeve. I applaud you for how you handled it.

You handled that well...I am never going to understand how people are so bold to TOUCH other people without prior approval.

That's why I teach my kids the "3 feet please" rule when they are still in the stroller & people wanna touch & stroke the baby!

I honestly see both points of view. I always think it's nice to ask for permission first--although I think there are levels of violations (e.g. touching someone's breasts to see if they are real isn't really synonymous with touching hair IMO). (I always ask first; hands may be "nasty," but no one caught a disease by someone touching their hair) I would say it's more like someone whom you know asks if they can touch your pregnant belly. As long as you ask first, but then, what are you going to say--no? Then you just look mean. I guess there's really no easy way to handle the situation.

I guess I'm mean,(even though my hair ain't all that yet) but umm yeah I'm not letting people just touch me especially If I don't know you, even some I do know just cuz I KNOW them. Ps ringworms and scabies and etc are spread by touch/contact ask me and my 2year old, came home from his aunt's house with scabies medication and a big ringworm in his head we didn't notice until he got a hair the next week. So yea don't let folks just put their hands on you!

True but why should you have to let someone touch your hair? And why does someone feeld the need to touch your hair?

A true hair fanatic doesn't need to touch to know if it's real

I never touch anyone's hair and I can tell by looking if it's a weave or not, which is usually pretty easy to tell.

ROFLOL! You handled it well OP!

EWWWW...I hate when strangers touch my anything! As far as the touch from behind....ummm an elbow in the stomach as I turn around and say "Oh, I didn't know what the h*ll that was...are you okay?" I do the same thing when people stand too close in line. They back up and stay out of my space!

This line (bolded) made me feel sad for her. We are so blessed to know about LHCF...and therefore, know better.

People just wanna touch folks hair. I cut mine off and went natural and I can't keep folks out of my hair and its not long at all.

Yeah, but some folks want to touch it so they can pull it (I've heard stories about people who asked AS they were pulling :nono:)... and then the OP would have needed to start a post about how she had to :boxing::brucelee: someone for getting grabby.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There are too many people using the bathroom and not washing their hands or digging out their nose. So no, I am NOT having any hands in my hair. I'm quite happy to be deemed as miserable, mean or otherwise.

I read this wrong and thought you meant you had three boobs.

You should have told her about growing her hair long. That was the perfect opportunity. There are girls on here dying to get someone to convert. I am at least. I want to turn someone's hair around so bad.

A coworker did an "extensive weave check" on me two weeks ago. I posted it a day later.
