I HENNAE’D MY TEXTURIZED HAIR (quite long)

This was my first ever-colouring treatment. I waited two weeks to apply it after having my touch-up. I made the decision to dye it because using relaxers for the last 8-9 months and performing correctives changed my hair colour to a dark brown, I dearly missed my natural black texture.

I blooming love the results. I’m glad I’ve saved money having to get the hennalucent one from US. I used Henne colouring cream in black for permed and colour treated hair.

I took a chance though, as I didn’t perform a strand test to see how it would react on chemically treated hair, even though the instructions stated it was safe for permed and coloured treated.

I shampooed with my wonderful Elucence moisture benefits, rinsed and towel dried my hair before applying the colour. The product arrived already mixed, with plastic gloves and good clear concise instructions. I poured the mixture into an empty container and used a tint brush to apply to my roots and I just used my fingers and pasted it on the rest of my two-strand twists lol.

The scent is a beautiful lavender essence, which perfumed the hair, it was very aromatic. The consistency is perfect, it smoothes on brilliantly without causing a major mess, the instructions say to leave in 10-45, however recommended less time for chemically treated hair so I took a wild guess and left it on 30 min then covered with a plastic cap.

I rinsed it out and oh my god, I had beautiful, stronger, shiny, healthier looking, richer and thicker black hair, my hair felt much drier though so I conditioned with henara colour enhancer and my hair still felt dry.

I rescued my hair with a magnificent concoction keracare humecto, elucence and Redken all soft heavy cream for 30-40 min, then I rinsed out, my hair was much softer and moisturised. I know sithembile wanted to know how it turned out as she was interested in the products and I’d say it’s a thumbs up. They have other natural henna ranges from Auburn, blond, mahogany, brown etc.

Re: I HENNAE’D MY TEXTURIZED (quite long)

Thanks for the review den1. Your hair looks lovely. I've just used Adore rinse in black, but I might consider this in the future.

Re: I HENNAE’D MY TEXTURIZED (quite long)

Hey Den1! You have got some Botticeli curl going on in the Curly Girl Method. I think that the black henna makes hair look healthier and really catches the eye. I love it and I must compliment you on your stocking cap method of washing or conditioning washing your hair to define the curls. Too bad you don't live on my street, you could work on my hair. Have you considered opening a little Hair Spa? It would be a treat because I can tell you really have a good hair care system rockin! I see you are smiling a lot in your pictures...cause you love the results you are achieving. Happy Hair Growing. I hope it grows long enough to sit on. /images/graemlins/clap.gifBonjour

It looks awesome, is that the hennalucent you used. I want to henna my hair again, but want something that I know I can use on Chemically treated hair. The hennajoy I used isn't recommended for chemically treated hair although I used it over permanent hair dye.

Re: I HENNAE’D MY TEXTURIZED (quite long)

Back atcha Den1: I henna as often as I feel like it, which could range from once a month to two or three times in a row depending on the need. If I am doing it just for body and conditioning it is once a month or even two to maintain the right feel. When I am doing a deep color, I lay it on as in Base one day, second bse the next day. Four hours each. Since I add olive oil or grapeseed oil to my henna (1 tsp. it doesn't dry out. If I am conditioning I add conditioner to it and sometimes the coconut lime mix. Right now I am wearing it superback. (Everyday Mehndi and doing the occasional Indigo treatment. Another treat is the Kalpi tone Hesh product. It gets my hair blue black. "I hope you are writing this down!!" /images/graemlins/drunk.gif...You know I had to mess with you, right? smiles...My hair just loves the henna because it keeps ir pretty well tangle free. Hope this helps. Bonjour
