just wondering....
my hair has always been pretty thick, except for around my temples. you can't tell when my hair is dry, but it is definitely more obvious when my hair is wet. is there any way to make that hair grow in any thicker? has anyone tried ORS temple balm or any other remedy that stimulates thicker hair growth? TIA!

ORS didn't work for me neither did anything by Dr.Miracle that I've tried in the past I have some suggestions you may want to try one them

1) try rubbing pure vit e oil into the spot once or twice daily
2) use Minoval it is a topical growth aid for hair loss and thin spots it has 2% minoxidil it is in a small glass bottle with a dropper and should be applied to the area twice daily this one says three months for results:( (I am in Philly too and you should have no trouble finding this product at the asian BSS it costs around $6.00)
3)Jamaican Black Castor oil rubbed into the thin area daily(asian BSS or west indian, or jamaican store around $8.00)
4)Make a blend of essential oils I love motown girls hair growth blend a little can be used nightly if you clean your hair a few times a week to prevent clogging the pores
1/4 cup pure vitamin e oil
1/4 cup castor or jojoba oil
15 drops of rosemary oil
15 drops of peppermint oil

Place the ingredients in a container mix well and use finger to massage into scalp

also you want to avoid causing added stress to the weak area as much as possible(tight pulling from braids or ponytails)

I agree with:
1. surge
2. mtg
3. massaging your temples with evoo, black castor oil,
4. massaging with peppermint and jojoba oils

These four get my top vote esp. MTG! :D

You could always try Dr. Miracles Temple balm or Ultra Black Hair Products (I've heard these are good for thinning temples)

Also if you wrap your hair at night, stop. And if you wear tight ponytails stop that. Too much pressure to your hairline could be causing thinning temples.

This may also be heredity so check with other women in family. And check your stress factor, if you're stressed a lot try to ease that with temples massages twice daily for 10 - 15 minutes .

Scalp massages, deep conditioning and lay off products containing glycerin (especially in that area). Pay attention to that area and don't use products containing mineral oil there. Product build up can clog the pores and overtax the area. Scalp massages should improve the circulation there and less manipulation should improve the growth

Hey SaintLuxe, for my chewed up temples (cause of tight braids) i had great success with Nioxin Follicle booster, minoval, mtg and castor oil. The follicle booster and minoval are great to bringing back hair where there s nothing. For the mtg just double check you not allergic to the sulfur.

That may be just the way yourhair grows in. My hair is thinner around the temples and nape. But its always bene that way. Even in my baby pictures those hairs woudl escape the barrettes. I dont think it will ever look like the rest of my hair. I will try to keep it string though and babying it will kep it form getting thinner.

Hi There,
When I had post-partum shedding my temples thinned and they had never been thin before.

My first bit of advice would be patience!! When mine started thinning I started to panic and I just wanted them to grow in!!;) I have be using Nioxin follicle booster along with Profective anti-thinning stimulant and my hair is growing back in nicely. It was never completely bald, just alot thinner. It is not as long as it was before, but there is definitely improvement. This area now has enough hair to curl up when wet and I can grip the hair when I couldn't a month ago. I keep this area moisturized and I did not relax it with my last touch up and I wont relax it with my next one either. Just really baby this area of your hair. I have also been putting Cantu break cure on it every other day, just to keep it from breaking once it grows in.

Just try not to stress over it and it will get better. I got my Nioxin from Trade Secret and the Profective from Sally's. Hope this helps.

My daughter had very thin temples and I started massaging her head several times a week and those thin temples have filled in. Try that and see if it works. If you get someone else to do it, it feels really good.

Thin temples run in my family....my great-grandma had it, my grandmother have it, my mom have it, I have it and my daughter has it....we're doomed :(

wow! thanks for all of the helpful advice!

well, thin temples do run in my family (mom has them, too). but, i will fight genetics and try the temple massage and maybe some of the recipes recommended.

i read on another thread that cayenne helps stimulate growth, too, & that Whole Foods has a cayenne mixture for hair. does anyone know what it's called or if this works?

ORS Temple Serum worked wonders for me last year. Surge did a decent job too, but the Serum worked faster & better, IMO.

Massages are also a good idea. I like to massage my temples with a little rosemary & jojoba oil to stimulate them, especially when I'm wearing a wrap.

You could also try Nexxus's Biotin Creme. I've heard hit and miss reports about it, but it's worth a try.

Also, do you wrap your hair or tie your scarf really tight? That kind of tension on the hair line can cause breakage and thinning of the temples.
