As for how I did the bun, its real easy:
1.Gather hair into a ponytail
2.Fan/Spread hair out
3.Take one section and twist going around until all the hair is coiled up into a bun
4.Secure with one or two bobby pins.
Oh, and the shine- Its the Sebastians Colourshines in Coffeebean (Thankyou Tracy!

You are awesome!
I followed youe instructions, and it worked like a charm! My hair's not quite your length, but it's close, and I don't have bobby pins on me, but it still looks good. I love this board!
Great shine and color. Your hair is pretty. Don't worry about the ends too much. Grow them out and even it out as you go.
Edited to say: I like the blouse you're wearing. I've been looking for one like it
Again ladies, thankyou all for the compliments, my hair was a straight up mess before I discovered this board in Nov. So thankyou ladies for all of your help and advice in getting my hair together (now I can't wait for the day I post some bra strap pics!)
OnlyErin- See, wasn't it easy? I bet your bun looks just like mine!
Mama!!!!! Just lovely! I THOUGHT you mighta had some colorshines in your hair but I also thought it might be naturally dark in which case it would likely shine so brilliantly.
It is possible to just have really shiny hair. It's just hard. I thought you might be one of the luckier ones that had that innerglow I seek to imitate. But no matter because you also fake it beautifully.
If you never said you had a rinse I never woulda known. So shhhhh - except for here of course.
The bun is lovely. Now that you've explained it I'm gonna try it for bootcamp...
And I agree with the poster that said to leave those ends alone for a bit longer. They aren't as bad as they might look to you and you'll certainly be able to eek out another inch or so of growth before they must come off.
I have to reinterate though the hair is FABULOUS. Keep it up. You're doing an amazing job.
My girlfriends and I have a phrase that applies here about hair that cascades over the shoulder as yours does - it's looking very DRAPEY (as in curtains?) girl. Veeeeeryyy drapey.....
When we see eachother and the other one has grown some more we go: "Drapes? Is that drapes I see? Verryy drapey, very drapey..."
LOL! So welcome to the twisted world of me and my loopy friends.

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!!!!!!!!!
I love your hair, and that bun is sharp....you have a great smile...I louv to cheeze too..even though everyone says I look goofy...I luv it!!!!!!!
Yes KitKat my hair was a mess. I had just taken my hair out of those micro mini braids (the ones that are not braided all the way down) and they left my hair a looking horrible (the lady who did them secured each braid with a knot-which would not have been so bad if my own hair was not caught up in each knot!) So you can imagine how my hair after I took them out....
