Hey all!!

So i just started my hair care regimin in January, actually I just started my hair care journey in january and its february and i have already fallen off the wagon. The first couple of weeks were very good but didnt see much progress. I was just wondering what do yall do to keep yourselves focused on your goal and make sure that you keep up with everything.
Any ideas or tricks are welcomed!!!

I take it one week at a time....literally. And to make something a habit, you have to keep doing it...with that being said !

I have been a natural for 2.5 yrs and I can't even keep box braids in for more than 2 weeks. However there are certain things I always do. Moisturize, Cover my hair at night with a satin scarf, and more moisture, protect my ends, my hair is never touching my shoulders ( I am APL). Keep it simple and you will be surprised.

Good Luck HTH

Girl. I feel you. The best motivation for me is ADMIRATION:love2:. Check out some Fotki, Blog, Youtube channels and find you a beautiful set of hair that you would like to have one day.

That works every time for me, because in all reality. The girls with the hair I admire the most, take their hair care VERY seriously and it's because of their discipline that their hair is amazing.

So when in Rome.......

Good luck and stay motivated!

My daughter is my motivation. I learned about this site in an attempt to help her. We have been on this journey together for over a year now. I wouldn't keep up with my hair if it were not for her desire for long hair. The support and knowledge of the ladies on board are a great inspiration too. Best wishes to you on your journey.

thank you all, that was very helpful. One part of my regimine that i am having a great bit of difficulty is the cowashing every other day. I live in new york and its so so so cold, i dont think its smart to go out with my hair wet especially someone like me who gets a cold everytime someones sneezes...lol... that is where i initially fell off.

Congrats on starting your hair journey!!

I'd say don't put things in your regimen that make you uncomfortable. When you do that, you end up falling off and then get discouraged. Maybe cowashing once a week or not at all will work better for you. A lot of the WL ladies here have VERY simple regimens. It's surprising how little they do to their hair. Just do what works for you.

Have you tried cowashing before going to bed or something so that it's dry before going out? I live in ny as well and I slowed down with cowashing. And when I do it, it's at night so that it dries before I have to go anywhere.

I suck at protective styling so when I feel like falling off the wagon I do like Reecie and look through fotki and YouTube. I also think about myself and my hair and how I want it to be.

What's your regimen?
Well its supposed to be cowashing every other day, while deep conditioning once a week. Buns all the time and daily moiturizing. Ive been keeping up with the buns but everything else went straight out the window.

I have tried to wash at night in fact that is the only time i do it, but my hair is never dry in the morning, always damp.

My progress keeps me motivated, the health of my hair has transformed, and it just feels great to know that I have control of my hair's destiny lol...it helps to take pics

I also keep it simple...now that I'm 25 weeks post I just wash once a week, dc, and air dry in braids...when I had a fresh relaxer I'd roller set every week which was tiresome. I mean I love the results but dreaded doing it because it took so long.
