i hate sally\'s beauty

ok ok, i dont hate the chain. but the ppl that work at my local sally's SUCK! I went in to buy the ion flat ironing spray and i saw a thermal spray by Proclaim on sale so i decided to get it. i look on the back and it had sd alcohol in it so... i asked the sales woman if it has any hold she say no, i ask even with the alcohol in it she says no. so i take it home and try it on my hair

crunchyness!!! i was so mad. I had to rewash my hair allover again. I took that crap back. grrrrr i'm mad.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

No offense to anyone who might work at Sally's but they do not know what the hell they are talking about! I learned about asking the people who work there for hair advice after I was told by a worker that Alcohol is neccessary and good for African-american hair! i don't know if they work on commission or they are just trying to be helpful but I just nod my head and ignore everything they say.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I'm generally too trifling to buy products unless there's a rave on this forum first.

Visits to Sally's remind me of the days when I'd shop for plastic braided extensions for my latchook (crocheted) style. It would require so many bags of braids that I was ashamed to approach the register. There were never enough 1b packs of braids, so I'd mix in some 2.

Beauty supply stores overwhelm me in general, so wandering the aisles isn't pleasurable for me. I'm in and outta there.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I never ask the salespeople for advice about products because they can't decide what is good for your hair by looking at it and talking to you for 2 minutes.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

sallys workers arent licsenced theyre just regular people that came in a filled out an application so they can only say things based on their opinions

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

and then they wear those smocks whick trick u into thinking they are hair stylist or something when they prob dont know crap about hair care. grrrrrr....

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I mentioned this on another thread, but I used to work for Sally at the corporate office. Don't go in there looking for advice! The only qualification to work in a Sally is that you are at least 16 years old. That's about it. Sometimes the managers have cosmetology licenses...just depends. Also, the other post mentioned how to get products ordered for you to pickup at a Sally if there is absolutely no other BSS around you and you know that someone has bought it there. I just posted it last night, but I'm still kinda new, so I don't know how to link to it.

Old Lady: I am having a really big problem with tangles, whats the best thing i can use?

Sallys employee who says she is a stylist: OOh the best is Tresemme. Now don't forget to put some of this *throws brown alcohol gel* on your hair to get your napps down.

Anky: *interjects* Ma'am, sometimes it would help to comb your hair in the shower with one of these shower combs; the force of water helps detangling easy.

Sally employee: What?!??! U should never comb your hair while its wet. Take it from me, I've been doing hair for 16 years, i know what im talkin bout.

Now keep in mind that this lady's hair was in horrible condition, i can even tell that she dyed the lint that built up in her hair.

Lesson: keep your mouth shut, and just buy what u need.

They were THAT bad? Oh my... I have never asked them anything. I just go in there and get what I think is best. I have always seen young girls in there that don't have much hair on their heads.

Adrian, I'm not a big fan of Sally's either.

The only time I really go in there is if I need something really mainstream and not salon-level or if they're having a good sale (like you can't beat that 99cents Lustrasilk sale).

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I have to agree with you ladies on this topic b/c every time I go to sally's I never ever find any thing I like in there for a good price

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

Do you guys notice the cashier always seems to forget to ring up the savings for sale items?? This always happens, I have to make sure and tell them about each one.

I was seriously annoyed with my mom the last time we went to Sally's she was asking the employee there a whole bunch of questions and I'm like HELLO you can ask me. Anyways, it was kind of funny when she kept referring to "our hair" as opposed to "white peoples hair" and she didn't even have afro textured hair

it just it just had a curl pattern.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

At the Sally's I go to, I would never ask the people there about product recommendations and stuff. That's because they have no hair and if they do have any they cover it up with a wig.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I agree with you ALL! The both the Sally's where I live has all white employees and they cringe if you ask them about a product made for black hair.

I have seen them recommend products to black customers and I just hurry up and get what I need and leave. The other BSS that I frequent has an all Asian staff but they carry everything under the sun. I do my research before I go to either store so I don't have ask for recommendations.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

Today i bought a few things from sally's, came home to read my reciept (I keep all reciepts that are hair related) and they charged me for something that I didn't buy

I am just going to go there and bring all this stuff back. All of it. hhg anyway guys.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I can attest to this as well. The ladies in the one I go to have ill managed weaves with all different shades of hair color or no hair at all.

I usually know what I am looking for thanks to this forum before I go.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

I don't like tha fact that they sell used stuff on their shelves. I bought this ION hooded dryer and when I opened it at home it had scratches all over the cover, it was dirty like it had been left out as a window display item, there was stuff on the side of it, and a mechanism on it didn't even work. They only had 2 boxes, the other one I saw at the store was wide open. I took mine back for a refund.

Re: i hate sally\'s beauty

Some people just shouldn't be in sales. I love my Sally beauty supply store in Los Angeles. I went there yesterday and bought a flat iron and the salesperson was most helpful. They always tell me what's on sale and explain the products to me without hesitation. There's a Korean beauty supply store in Inglewood that I dislike because they follow you around the store, watching your every move.

I forgot about this. The same thing happened to me a long time ago when I bought a Gold N Hot wave iron. Girl, when I opened the package, the iron already had someone's broken hair on it as well as left over grease.

That think got returned with a quickness.

I just think they have a bad policy of reselling returned (and often USED) items. How tacky
