I hate Humidity or Heat

I straightened my hair so I could look cute for mommie day and my hair can't tolerate the heat. I now have reverted back to twists again so I can do a twist out. It sucks.

Awww, and it probably came out really nice too. Girl next time wait til the last minute that way you can atleast make it halfway through the day and pull that extra clip out you keep in ya bag and pin it up. But I'm sure the twist will look just as good.

Don't feel bad, you're not alone. Sometimes my 2 hours of pressing my hair goes right down the toliet thanks to humidity.

Thanks ladies. Pinkskate I want your hair. Thanks Bfly. I put it in twists but I think it makes me look manly.

My boyfriend laughs at me when I say it. I think the straight hair makes my face seem smaller and feminine. I feel the twists make me look like Ms. Cecily from the color purple.

CG, have you tried a wig or a weave? Around the holidays I wore a straight wig for about a month. After awhile I got so tired of it but it was nice for a change. I recently bought another straight wig that I like even more and I wear it when I'm in a pinch and need to look really nice and don't have time to do my hair. It is very flattering. You seem like you are really wanting to have some straight hair for more than a minute. Maybe a wig or weave would suffice for awhile. I know it's hot but girl you know unless you sweat a whole lot you kinda get used to it.

You may find that you just really want to go back to a relaxer, wearing a wig or a weave for awhile would let you know if this is just a look you want from time to time. I know my hair would not stay straight for long either if I got it pressed. I think you almost have to train your hair to stay straight and that I guess will take some time a really good hairdresser. Our hair has a memory you know and when you press it it's just trying to get back to what it remembers. Sometimes it can even be hard to get natural hair to relax after it's been natural for awhile, it can be quite determined to stay in it's natural state.

I don't think I look like Ceily, but I prefer my twists to be pulled back/partially pulled away from my face. I think it looks a little mor feminine (right now, with so many guys wearing twists). When my twists get longer (like about 13" or so), I'll wear them down more often.

My relaxed hair didn't do well with humidity (even with a crispy roller set, as I unfortunately discovered while in New Orleans in July one year) so I can't imagine my natural hair liking it any more.

Maybe you should do what a bunch of people do--wear straight hair in spring and winter, and wear it curly during summer. I agree with hopeful--if I wanted to wear straight styles consistently in the summer, I'd swallow my dislike of fake hair and get a weave.

Someone suggested Sabino Moisture Block in quite a few older threads...supposedly it's good to keep the humidity/moisture out of the hair...you might want to try that next time.

This sounds tempting to me. I may have to try it. I live in the humid south, and this summer (is it even summer yet? ) has been the worst. I mentioned in another thread my problems with the humdidity. My hair is swelling bigger and bigger, but it still looks ok. It's just not straight like I like it. It's also been raining a whole lot lately, so I need to "waterproof" my hair. (As if that's really possible!) It's worth a try though...I guess. You ladies already know I'm cheap.

I went to college in New Orleans, and let me tell you that place is the most humid city! I think that all the moisture in the air may be why so many ladies have beautiful hair there, but I had MANY bad hair days in college and that was when I was relaxed! (But so did most everyone else so it was ok.:D )

i can relate:perplexed i straightened my hair last night and today i look like a big puff frizz ball. i typically do not bd or flat iron after april anyway b/c i hate to wrestle with the humdity but i had to receive an award today and wanted to look cute:ohwell: so much for that. i only wear my hair curly, up in a clip or ponytail when it gets hot. I LOVE winter!

Or.... you could move out here to Phoenix! We have no humidity here. Rattlesnakes, scorpions, 115 degree weather, but no humidity.
