I hate hate hate Aveda Anti humectant

its only been one week since i first used it and felt then that it made my hair hard to press...well i did it again and its awfull awfull awfull , i cant believe that crap costs 18 dollars to make you hair look like crap. i hate this stuff so much...my hair is dry dry dry. and just feels like straight out crap...i took pics so you could see the fuzzy dry roots it left me with. and trust me no matter how it "appears" in the pics...it feel like crap..this is the worst my hair has ever felt.....now i need advice on how to get my hair back to normal ya'll...i know i have to wash cause im figuring its an anti humectant and if i dont get it all out , it will continue to keep moisture out right?

what was Aveda thinking when they made this one? what was i thinking to try it

i was just looking at my hair again and it looks so dry and terrible and feels even worse...maybe i used too much of that stuff...but then i like a product that if i do happen to use too much, it doesnt kill my hair like this...so i will never use this again...i just wish i actually felt like goin through the drama of doing it in these wee hours of the morning...im scared to wash it as dry as it is, the shampoo will probably really kill it, and if the stuff is an anti humectant , im sure any moisture i put on it will be kept out because its and anti humectant and thats its purpose , to keep moisture out....oil doesnt seem to be helping at all either...

hairlove...when you used this you didnt have a problem with dryness, hardness etc? what should i do? conditioner wash?

the pics don't look that bad. but i'm confused as to why you used the anti-humectant. would'n you use the humectant one, cause i thought that moisture will help to tame frizz.

girl click on get original uploaded photo and look at the larger size of the two before the last one...look at the roots...dry and fuzzy and a mess and my hair is hard like (hard to explain) but it feels really bad, thats all i can say....the anti humectant is supposed to keep moisture out , to keep from experiencing reversion while wearing a straight style...this stuff did just that...my hair is dry with nooooo moisture , hard and in bad shape because of it. and nothing so far im doing is helping.
frown.gif

by the way it DID NOT prevent reversion...it seemed to cause it worse than any thing ive ever experienced before. almost instantly after pressing it...not only that but it made it dang near impossible to even press...im so disapointed in this stuff its not even funny

Thanks for the review. I read that it was suppose to help with humidity...but I didn't want to spend that much money on it without sampling it first. BTW your hair is beautiful!

I'm sorry about your Aveda experience

I've used it before but I didn't have the same results. I used a blow dry cream I put on while my hair was still damp, blowdried then I used the anti-humectant. It's really supposed to be used after you've dried and straightened your hair...it is like a finishing item. I don't use it every day, I alternate with oil or moisturizing cream. It has held my blow-dried hair in check.

And as far as the price goes, go to EBAY. I got a jar for $9

By the way your hair is gorgeous, just wash the Aveda out and try it again with a blowdry cream.
Good luck

I use it all the time Irresistible on my relaxed hair. It isn't made for pressing hair. I use it after my leave-in while my hair is still wet or damp to hold the moisture in, which it does very well. It also prevents outside moisture from getting in due to the castor oil. All moisture needs to be applied to the hair before using the Anti-Humectant. If you're pressing your hair, it should be applied as the last step, after you press. If your hair is natural, it doesn't work as well as it does on relaxed hair.

I'm sorry about your experience too...
I was thinking of trying it, not sure now, especially since I'll be straightening one more time in May and then I'm on a heat challenge for the summer!
I guess I'll pass on the Aveda anti-humectant for now...

Irresistible,

Hmmm. I wonder now if this product caused my hair to be dry when I was relaxed. I always thought it was helping but now I'm second guessing it...b/c it seemed like I had to use it everyday and then I'd just get greasy hair.

Try washing with a really gentle shampoo or just doing a co wash with a moisturizing shampoo.

So sorry about your bad Aveda experience.

I've never had great results using anti moisture products on pressed hair (hair sprays, spritzes, etc.). If it's going to be humid outside, I try not wear my pressed hair loose or I might do a braidout so that as the hair frizzes, I won't have two drastically different textures going on (puffy roots and straightish length).

I actually tried it on my last at home rollerset and it did VERY well!!!

I think its made to use when your hair is wet or as a style finisher and you should only use a LITTLE BIT!

exactly hairlove...its geasy/oily but totally drying at the same time....its the strangest product ive ever used

right now im oiling it well with oils and butters , even though i dont think its doing nothin at all yet...then im gonna do like you said, a co wash first, then a wash, then more conditioning

Isis is right, the anti humectant pomade is a finishing product, to be used after your hair has been styled.

Co-signing, it is a finishing product, designed to be used on styled hair. I know the product works well on relaxed hair, i don't know about natural hair. It's certainly not designed for hair pressing.

im telling ya'll the suposed Aveda experts told me different.....two of them in the Aveda store...ya'll can have mine to use lol....cause i aint touchin it again...not to start , not to finish. i dont think it is for natural hair period.
