I had to retweak my regimen due to breakage

I've never experienced breakage like this before and I really think the main culprit is stress; however, my regimen definitely needed an update.

How did you all, who've dealt with breakage before, recover from it?

Here's my regimen, in video. If you all have any other suggestions for me, I am all eyes!

my breakage first came from product overload. my hair was coated with creams and oils that didn't penetrate and just sat on top of my strands. my ends were so dry. next came the the protein overload. tangle/breakage/straw like strands city! changing my products to things that didn't contain much protein and using liquid moisturizers and lighter oils have help so much. i had to back away from the cowashing too.

I went through a bout of breakage about two months ago. I was using a paddle brush to detangle my hair (huge NO NO). Combine that with stress and busy college schedule and I was leaving my hair dry and matted in twists for two weeks at a time, all underneath a wig.

When I noticed just how thin my ends were becoming and how frequent I'd run into single strand knots, I decided to clip about 0.5 inch of damaged ends all around and get back to moisturizing more frequently. My hair promptly bounced back to its healthy state after that. :yep:

So I figured that if I see damage now, there's no use holding on to those ends because they'll be eating at my progress so why not get rid of them now before that happens?

ETA: I've also been more proactive in moisturizing my hair. I used to use water with a bit of glycerin and just seal with my shea butter mix but I've started to use leave-in conditioners (well, Tresemme Curl Hydration isn't a leave-in, but I use it as one) before applying my shea butter mix and it's helped wonders in keeping my strands moisturized longer.

I'm at work and can't look at the video...could you perhaps write out some of what's in the video?

How does stress cause breakage? I know it can cause excess shedding... But breakage? Do you mean that you are so stressed that you are man handling your strands?

No, that's not what I mean.

Stress can lead to hair thinning, which can lead to breakage because the fibers aren't as intact as before.
