I Had To Let My Stylist Go!

I started going to my Stylist back in 2001 and in 2002 I lost contact with her. When I found her again late 2006 and started seeing her in 2007.

In 2001 she took extra special care of my hair and my hair loved her. She would always ask if my hair held up from last visit and if it didn't she would try another product on my hair until she got the right combo.

Well 2007 is a new year and all she does not is wash, set and go... Once left me under the dyer too long and my hair was a hot mess .

I hate that I had to let her go :ohwell: but I must do what's best for my hair. And now that I love PhytoSpecific I don't need a hair stylist. Now I spend all that money on my products :perplexed !

Man, Why is everyone's stylist acting a d@&n fool lately:perplexed ? Anyways its probably for the best i left my stylist in December and i am very hesistant in finding a new one. I went to one of the so called best salons in my city and my hair got chopped and screwed. Im thinking of doing my next relaxer myself.

I feel ur pain I dont know why some of them get that way like they get lazy sometimes I dont kno or wanna rush u along ... Ive come to the point I only go when I need a retouch and a trim ..one thing she is good wit trims and will ask and not scissor happy..Im like u I invest my money in buying my own products and doing it myself...U save TONS of money like that

Very true ladies. And now that I know more about how to care for my own hair I really don't need a stylist except for special occassions. Whenever possible I will go to the Dominicans but outside of that its me and my kitchen!

Finding a good stylist is as hard as finding a good man. They are out there but your gonna bump into some crappy ones at first. There is this level of trust involved that they will handle your hair with care and not just fry your hair up. Its ashame that your stylist was good then just slacked off. I wonder why that is.

Amen!

Well she is working a full time job now (she didn't back then) and doing hair is a side job. I'm sure she still has it in her but time is an issue here.

I second this!! I finally let my stylist of 4 years go in January. He was good at doing short hair but once I wanted to grow long, he had issues and always wanted to trim trim trim. You know its a problem when a stylist doesn't have big rollers in their stash...only small ones for shorter hair :perplexed

Yikes! I'm sure your hair is thanking you. That's ridiculous.

Gurl, what you talking bout! Everyone that sat in my stylist chair had short hair and seem to get it cut every time they were there. Her hair was short too and she wouldn't stop asking me to trim my ends. I never let her cut/trim my hair!!!!!

Yes it is. The last time I was there she tried to leave me under for an hour and I removed myself at the 45 minute mark. She asked me what was wrong and I told her it was dry and I didn't want what happen last time to happen again. She said it was b/c I need to trim my ends! Well another stylist check my hair and she told my stylist that was hair was dry!~ I do know my own hair. And since I started LHCF techniques my hair doesn't take as long to dry as it use too.

I think some slack off b/c they think they “got you” and don’t need to invest as much time as they would a new client they are trying to impress and hopefully retain. I was in a similar situation. My former stylist got another job and I felt like she was always rushing- rushing to make the appointment and was always late, rushing through my shampooing and I HATED that b/c I would sometimes be in her chair later with a still itchy scalp and didn’t feel like my hair was clean enough., and rushing to get me out. She was good at first and was really cheap, $35 dollars for a relaxer. Since I’m natural now, I don’t have to go to any stylist and I’m glad.

Well, you're hair will really thank you . There are some good stylist out there but are so few and far in between.

I figure like this; I can mess up my own hair without paying someone 100 bucks to do it for me. Being your own stylist does force you to learn more. I've had my fair share of oopies but I've had a hella lot more successes.

being that I save so much by not going to a salon, I buy quality products that work for me instead. its a great tradeoff IMO.

So true. My stylist charged me $35 (not including the tip) for the wash set and go... and I did not get a treament with that. So that's $70 per month and my Phyto (poo, condish and moisterizer) is about $75 and that sould last me about 2.5 months so that $175 (2.5 months) - $75 = $100 ($115 if I include the tip) savings!

She charges me $50 for the relaxer and my precious Phyto relaxer is $60 for 2 services so that $100 - $60 = a $40 savings for just the relaxer!

Mind you, it is really nice to get someone to do your hair but if I really need that I can go to a local school and get them to wash and set for $7!

Yeah! I made the right decision!
