Its been since earlier this year that I have given the board an update on my progress. I will admit, there has not been much progress because:

1. I have trimmed my hair 4 times since May. Yes I said 4 times.
2. I have not taken any suppliments at all. I have been lazy with that.

So I did a quick glance of my progress and when my hair is stretched, it reaches brastrap. Finally, after 3 years when i cut my hair completely bald to be rid of my perm, i have reached my first goal.

I will put in a sew in weave later this week so I can give my hair a complete rest. I have been sporting a wig for awhile.

Thanks LHCF. So here are some pics from an hour ago.

I miss you guys. :)

This was the very first pic i submitted here when my hair was pressed

AMAZING:grin:  Thank you for sharing your wonderful progress. Now, tell us how you achieved all this growth!!

Thanks. I left it alone for the most part. I kept it under a wig for the entire summer, and i trimmed it a lot this year to get rid of layers. Otherwise it should be longer than that but I am pleased for now. The layers are gone so now I can concentrate on growing it again.

Your natual hair is soooooooo BEAUTIFUL!!! Great progress. I hope to be there someday. Thanks soooooo much for sharing this!!!

My sister has natural hair for almost six years and it hasn't even past shoulder length and I know she leaves her hair alone. I also know a lot of other people that doesn't have your length - especially in 3 years. What is your regimen? How often do you wash? How often do you braid/weave or have your natural hair out? Give us a look into the life of your hair so we can have a view of what you did to attain such beautiful hair and length. Sorry for the many questions but with length like that, I am sure you expect these questions, right? Your hair makes me want to go natural.

I keep this briaded in plaits 85% of the time. It sits under a scarf and a wig during the week and on weekends, I just walk around the house in a scarf. I press it only for trims and progress. The last time my hair saw any real heat was this past May with the maxiglide and a blowdry in October to get cornrows. My hair hates for me to touch it. The first year (oct 2002-2003) I was pressing my hair i guess because my brain had not become acustomed to not having straight hair. So in that very top pic, I was natural for 13 months then and that was when i first started trying to actually grow out my hair.

The second year (oct 2003-to oct 2004) I started taking biotin and msm but i had issues with breakouts. I had those issues already but the vitamins kind of made it worse, although my hair loved the extra nutrients. I eventually stopped taking all vitamins because of that and laziness :(

i just finished year 3 (oct 2004-2005) and I did nothing but wash, trim the layers and plait my hair and left it tied in a scarf and under a wig for most of that time. That became easier to do.

no one really knows how long my hair really is except for a couple of people and at times it has been difficult to get my wigs to sit properly because i have too much hair under it.

Im getting my first sewn in weave because I have 4 big events i am going to this month and i dont want to put any real heat on my hair but yet look fierce at the same time.

even after 3 years I am still learning to adjust to having my hair natural. I occasionally make mistakes with it but I am getting better with it.

Thank you so much for this lengthy explanation. Now I understand why you retain so much hair - not much combing and touching. That is a really difficult thing for me to do - I am obsessed with combing  Anyway, you have my exact hair type and I am proud to see how beautiful and thick your hair is..., keep it growing. When you attain your goal...., are you going to start wearing your hair out more?

To be honest, I may not wear it out too much. I have gotten spoiled with my current routine because its easy. But the moment (if ever) it reaches the top of my butt, Im letting it all hang out.

So I got another 3 years till then.

OMG!!! What a natural inspiration you are!!!!---- and I mean that in more ways than one. Your hair is gorgeous!!

Your hair is luscious, absolutely luscious. You've retain so much length AND incredible thickness. It's a wonder how those protective styles work. I love them and i can't wait until I'm at your length!!

Wow! fantastic growth! And you used a wig to protect it. I think a wig can be good for that but girl, you now have a pretty head of hair of your own and it was worth if for that outcome....Are you going for waistlength with the same method? bonjour

I may try. But if I get tired of the wigs then i may just wear it out. But for now, i will keep covering it up.
