I found Mizani relaxer at the local beauty supply....

Should I try it? Is it legit? I have never seen Mizani relaxer without a "certified" stylist attached. What's the deal? I was excited at first and I almost bought it. I'm due for a perm anyway. But then I became concerned about quality. Its hard to find a "certified" Mizani specialist much less a relaxer just sittin there in the local beauty supply store, waiting to be bought.

What gives?

The one time I tried it, I got it from my local BSS. I had no problems.

I believe Sheldeez.com is a licensed salon who carries it as well. The only reason I didn't use them was because I needed mine right away, and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for shipping.

For my next relaxer, I may go to Sheldeez, or another licensed salon to get Mizani. Even though it worked out the first time, I don't know if I want to chance it again.

I would be willing to bet it is legit. The Asians are just selling it to the public. Its all about da money. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I have bought Mizani and Keracare from Asian BSS and it was authentic.

IMO- it would take more time and energy to make fakes that it would to just buy the real deal from a distributor and sell to the public even though the distribution ask them not to.............

how can you tell if the products is fake or not? i just saw a commercial for paul mitchell in which he said that if you find his products in a drug store or outside of a salon then it is fake. now i never thought that target or walmart would make fake products but i have seen paul mitchell's in stores that did not have a salon so it seems that bss could be selling fakes too. unless they are all real wherever you buy them but when they are sold in bss and other stores then mizani and paul mitchell don't make as much money

I still don't know a/b relaxers in the BSS, but last time I bought Mizani from an asian BSS, I suspected something fishy (do a search on bootleg produts--I think I posted in that thread), but then I bought some from a black BSS and my hair got so straight (like how it's s'posed to be when you use Mizani).

Sistaslick has posted MANY times on her theory of "product diversion" being a load of crap...I'm sure she could help you.

I only buy my Paul Mitchell and Joico from Trade Secret or Ulta. Just for peace of mind.

ETA: Just make sure to look at and sniff the relaxer--that helps to decide.
