I finally got it! - Question for Adrienne

Hey Lady!

I finally got my HAI convertible. I used it yesterday and my hair just glided between the plates. I like it a lot. Two questions for you. What temperature do you usually use it at? I don't think I went high enough, but I don't want to use too much heat and burn my hair off again (that's why I'm no longer using Marcels). Also do you use it to flatten new growth as you get closer to re-touch time?

Thanks for your time and advice it is much appreciated!

YAY! i'm glad you got the flat iron. i don't know if you've used others, but if so, did you notice a difference between those plates and others? i'm wondering if it's just me that noticed a drastic difference.

depending on how much time i have to do my hair, i will vary the setting. if i have alot of time, i use it on medium-high. if i'm in a rush, i use high. i know that's a no-no, but that's also why i rarely flat iron. one thing that i love is that i have never burned my hair with this flat iron. that's the beauty of those ceramic plates.

i don't recommend using it on the highest setting if you flat iron regularly. that kind of heat takes its toll. i normally do my own hair once ever 2-3 months. i really prefer that someone else do it at this point.

no, i don't flat iron just to straighten the new growth. i only do it because i want to wear my hair down. i really prefer using alot of curl activator and wearing my hair up to control new growth.

I used to use a Gold n' Hot many years ago. It was good... but my hair didn't glide over the plates like it does with this flat iron. This is also my first ceramic heat tool... so I don't know if what I am noticing is common to all ceramics or if its the difference between Hai and other tools. Thanks for the Advice... I'll keep trying. Yesterday I tried it with some heat protectant but my hair came out stiff. I might've had too much product in my hair. I'll try again after I've had a touch up.

Thanks again!

yeah, hair stiffness is definitely a sign that you used too much product. i sometimes overdo it too, but i hate how my hair feels if i use too much. it doesn't have as much body. so once i see i've used too much something, girl, i'll wash my hair and start over again.
