I did some braids (no extensions) - will they last?

I'm about to start my 7th month of my transition to natural. It's been going so much better than I anticipated - I expected that by this time, I'd be sooo frustrated that I'd want to BC or do braids or kinky twists(with extensions) which I DO NOT want to do. My hairline has always suffered from extensions and I don't want to risk it.... and as time has gone on, I have decided that I always want to have only my hair on my head (nothing against ladies here with the beautiful weaves, braids, twists or wigs :-) )

Anyway, I've gotten a little bored with my everyday do (pin up hair and hold back with a headband or scarf)

I love my twistouts(see siggy) or braidouts which I only do for 1-2 days (days I don't workout) but I just wanted a little change...

So I did these braids.... took me a while cos I was watching TV, taking breaks to eat, etc

Do you think these will last 2 weeks? If I cowash 4 times a week, will they be ok? I plan to redo the edges if they get a little rough...

I'd appreciate your input :-)

Thank you :-)
I plan to continue as normal... spray with my moistursing spritz every morning (after my workout) and seal with my shea butter mix. Moisturise and seal as well in the evening...
I cowash 4 times a week, so I plan to do the same.

They look good mummy's girl and should last 2 weeks at least. How do you plan to take care of them?

You have some serious styling skills! I really have to learn how to do these styles. I just can't rely on a stylist all the time. I would be a million times happier if I learned how to do a basic braid, cornrow, and French braid.

Thanks so much :-)
I hope you can learn soon, have you tried youtube videos ?

I like the braids, and I'm jealous that you have such full and healty looking hair! LOL

I wouldn't recommend cowashing that often. I think the 4x per week will cause the braids to frizz faster. Perhaps you can just spritz them with a watered down conditioner every other day.

LOL, thanks! I'm still not used to my hair being described as "full" - yay!!!!!! :-)

Thanks so much, I will reduce the cowashing, maybe 2ce a week. My moisturising spritz is HE totally twisted, evoo, glycerin and water, so I think that should work.
Thanks again!!!

You tube is where I basically lurk now. I just have problems figuring out how to use 3 strands instead of 2.:nono: It seriously pisses me off sometimes practicing, but I hope I will get it. If I don't, I will stick with twists.:look:

Co-sign, and try washing them once a week. Looks really good!

This is actually an EXCEPTIONALLY good regimen and original to anything I have ever seen here on the forum. I mean, I have seen some really good regimens, but so far, I have not found any that I might want to continue when my hair is longer.

This one is one I would and will do.

Right now, I LIVE in twists and twist outs. They are relatively easy to do and to maintain. I could do the same with braids when I have some length with either twists or braids.

Why didn't I think of this?!?!

Great regimen. I know it will work!!

Please let us know how you fare!

Blessings and Happy and Healthy Hair Growth!!!

Good job! I see no reason why they couldn't last at least 2 weeks...I'm working on week 3 of some braids & I rinse them almost daily. I like frizz if only because my hair is fine & the frizz adds the illusion of thicker hair :)

also when you cowash you can put a stocking cap over to limit the frizzies. Just make sure your moisture/protein is in correct balance. Your braids looks so full. Mine always comes out spotty or not as uniform. How long are you thinking to transition?

Thank you, I will try that.
Thanks :-) I really think my hair is full now because I don't blow dry (especially with a comb attachment) or flat iron anymore.
I plan to transition for a minimum of 1 year but I would love to go further.

Thank you! Week 3? That's really good! I'll take these out in 2 weeks for a 2 week break and I'll do them for 2 weeks again, I'll see how the braids look after 2 weeks and decide if I want them in for one more week.

Thanks so much  I've gotten so much help here and on fotki too.
I'll update after a week and also after the 2nd week.
Thanks again, your comment made my day :yep:
Good luck and HHG!!!!

Your braids lovely! I agree with another one of the posters though...Cowashing 4x a week might be too much if you are trying to keep this style for two weeks.
