I got my hair braid. I forgot how look it takes I was there 11:00am to 11:30 pm. My question now it HOW TO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR HAIR WITH BRAIDS?

Great news Deon19. It doe take a while for single braids, but can be well worth it when you consider the time you save in combing, setting, styling. You should still make sure to properly care for the braids, though. Check out www.growafrohairlong.com!

I wash my braids once a week with cream of nature shampoo. I put the shampoo in a cup and fill it with water. Then I pour that mixture over my head. After the shampoo is rinsed out I follow up with a leave in condtioner. After my hair is dryed I apply braidspray. I do this once daily. I make sure to wear my satin bonnet at nightly to combat frizzies.

Hi Deon19- I got braids with extentions a week ago and I am really enjoying not having to mess with my hair for a while (styling). I've learned a lot about braid care since the last time I got braids and I'm wearing these much more comfortably than last time.
Don't neglect your hair while it's in braids because it still needs care even though you are not styling it every day. I have long braids that are left "out" on the ends because I learned the hard way that braids that touch my neck and/or are burned on the ends irritate my skin.
When I shower I pull them up but do not cover them with a shower cap and let the steam moisturize my scalp and hair.
And then spray with lots of braid spray all throughout the length of the braid. If it's hot during the day I may spray my scalp with some bottled water that I keep in a spray bottle (to avoid build up from tap water which can have minerals and whatnot in it), sometimes I add a little peppermint oil to the water to cool and soothe my scalp, and then add a little more braid spray (African Pride). Before bed I spray them down again with the braid spray and put on a satin scarf. I have washed them once so far with African Pride braid shampoo which really cleaned my scalp and left no build up.I use Hairobics or Infusium leave-in (I add stuff to my Infusium to tailor it to my needs). Do LOTS of scalp massages while your hair is in braids. Especially before washing or rinsing the braids. This helps to lift dead skin and will allow it to rinse away better. Also whenever I experience any itching I spray my scalp with leave-in conditioner and/or braid spray and do another scalp massage. That seems to keep the itchies away for at least 10 or 12 hours. Doing these things has kept my scalp from getting dried out and making the braids unbearable. They take so long to put in I want to get at least 6wks wear out of them.
