I didn't go up far enough during relaxer

I flat ironed my daughter's hair a week before so her hair was straight when I proceeded to give her a touch up. I stretched her relaxer for 6 months and I did not realize that her new growth extended further up. Now she has straight roots and ends but the middle is frizzy. Has this happened to anyone? Should I go back and just apply relaxer to the unrelaxed parts of her hair? Thanks in advance.

Yes, this happened to me once when I used to self-relax. It's perfectly okay to correct the underprocessed, frizzy sections by carefully applying the relaxer to those sections only. Still, you might want to wait a couple of weeks before doing this.
