Not only should you detangle, but I've noticed that my hair will tangle up something serious when I use shampoo with sulfates in it! :nono: Since I BKTed my hair and have to use non-sulfate products, I noticed that my hair never tangles.

well i dont always do this. when i used to wash and deep treat once a week i always did it. i would pre poo with a conditioner, detangle with it in and then i shampoo and condition again.
but now that i shampoo 2-3 times a week i dont always pre poo so i dont always detangle before hand. but my hair isnt that long anyway so it doesnt tangle much.

i dont detangle before washing:nono: if i did i would be bald! i have to wait until its wet and i detangle in the shower with conditioner or i detangle while wet with mane detangler.

I hear you... dry combing/brushing = :cry3: for my hair. That's why I wet it with a spray bottle, slather on the conditioner, and detangle in sections. I make buns or braids of each detangled section. In the shower I wash and rebraid/bun each little section before going on to the next.

I have never detangled my hair before either and didn't even know that you were supposed to do this. I can only detangle my hair when its wet and has conditioner in it. My hair dry doesn't like combs.

Yes, I cannot manipulate my hair dry like that either. That's the beauty of pre-pooing with conditioner and detangling like that before you wash.
