I can\'t believe it\'s been 4 months!!!!

I haven't had a relaxer since late may!!! I can't believe it. I usually get a touch up every six weeks. Now I have a question, do yall think I should get a relaxer or get it pressed out? I am very anxious to see how much length I've gained. Thanks for reading

That's great that you haven't had a perm in 4 months! What's your secret??

My goal is to wait 16 wks (4mos) for my next touch up. My usually time is 14-15 wks, but it just seems like I can't get to that 16th week!
What styles have you been wearing?

I would go for the touchup if I were you. Or, if you want to wait it out for 5 months, I would press the new growth. I think that's a great idea, I'm going to have to purchase a pressing comb now.

Kamilla,

What are your reasons for not getting a relaxer for 4 months? Are you stretching out the time for healthier hair? Are you transitioning? I guess it depends on the goal that you're trying to achieve.

I've read that pressing new growth isn't very good for hair. Maybe you could try a light blowdry and a curling iron instead. It's still heat but I believe it's not as harsh as using a pressing comb on new growth.

If you're comfortable enough to see a stylist, they may be able to get your hair straight as if you got a relaxer and then you'd see the growth. I've found that this works for me.

hairlove,

i've stretched out my perm because i got tired of my hair breaking off. i dont know if it was from relaxing or from getting braids. i think braids did it tho, cuz i was 4 months away from a relaxer the last time i got braids. but now, i havent had a perm since February 14th.

Do you think I should relax my new growth or use a pressing comb or what? i just want my hair to grow! no breakage damnit

I have issues making it to that 16th week too and I want to so bad without using braids!!

I think you should get your hair relaxed and just continue to stretch out your relaxers for however long it works for you.

Re: I can\'t believe it\'s been 4 months!!!!

All I've been doing is slicking my hair back into a ponytail, And that's getting pretty old. I got my hair deep conditioned and washed out in August and had it pressed out, It looked like I had got a perm, I think I'll do that again!!!! I am trying to wait till November to get a perm. The reason I am waiting this long is so that I can see my newgrowth. I also like being shocked when I get a perm!! I'll probably have 2-3 inches of new growth if I am lucky!!!

I like being shocked with my new growth too. Hey, if it works for you - go for it. Good luck!!!!!
