i used to have the same problem. my hair could never get past my shoulders. the ends would be very thin and i'd have to get another cut. look into your regime and start to change the stuff that damages your hair-- like HEAT. this is what killed my hair. Since its short, i always have to curl it for it to look cute, but thats terrible on the ends. Now i keep my hair done in braids or a weave and my hair has been growing soo much!
Im in the same boat you are.... except Ive had long hair for the majority of my life until 2002..then I got scissor happy...so happy I did the BC /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif Anyway I dont regret my decision, but some times I want a style change and there's only so much you can do with short hair. You dont really know how long your hair is until you cut it down to .5'' /images/graemlins/rofl.gif I got these kinki twists for a style change.
I checked out your album... it looks like you're being really creative with your hair, no matter how short it is. I say enjoy the versatillity while it lasts (b/4 your hair gets longer) /images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I understand what you mean though. I say keep the braid regimen for atleast 2 years. It may sound like a long time, but seeing that you'll be older by two years anyway... it won't hurt /images/graemlins/smile.gif I hope you keep motivated!

Sweetyb, do you think that shorter hair is more versatile than longer hair? IF that's what you're saying, then I must respectfully disagree. IMO, there a millions more styling options a person with long hair has as opposed to short hair.
Don't get discouraged, YOU TOO, can have long hair. First believe it, dream it, work for it, work for it with the end in mind, work for it without ceasing, work for it continually, work for it persistantly and YOU WILL, YOU WILL, YOU WILL, achieve it.
I'm feeling you girl. The longest my hair has ever been was about an inch or two past my shoulders when I was pregnant with my first child. I've never been one to get professional relaxers on a regular basis and that is what has killed my hair. I did get professional relaxers all throughout my first pregnancy and it helped my hair thrive. In August I started back with the professional relaxers and I'm noticing increased length already, no more breakage for me. I've also decided to start going to the salon every two weeks for treatments because I notice when I get my hair professionally washed I can wrap it up at night and wear it straight and flat in the morning. Although this isn't the cutest style it still looks decent cause the hair is soft and shiny and looks freshly done. This is going to cost lots of money but I decided that the reason I work so hard is to be able to treat and pamper myself every once in a while and I'm worth it. Also, if my hairdresser can keep my hair from looking nice then I can stop spending a ton of money looking for the miracle product that's gonna give me salon results. This also keeps me from having to use the curling iron so often cause like hOnii said it is hard to make short hair look cute without curls. Other things I'm doing is taking prenatal vitamins and I just started using capilong two days ago. I hope all this end my short hair days and I hope you find something that will work for you also.
I truly understand where your coming from. My hair is the longest it's EVEr been in my life, I dont consider my hair at current lenght long at all /images/graemlins/smirk.gif.
Thanks for the comments ya'll. /images/graemlins/kiss.gif
I must say that I keep forgetting that I just did a big chop in January, so it's going to be short in October. And I feel that my hair is relatively healthy than what it had been before.
I just feel like I'm waiting and more anxious than most since I've NEVER experienced long hair. I think this is why I'm a bit obsessed with my hair. Eh... /images/graemlins/confused.gif Being patient is easier said than done.
I feel you girl. I am in the same boat with you right now. we'll have to try to keep each other encouraged. I am challenging myself to work at it for another year. One more year. So let's get focussed.
My hair was soooooooooooooo damaged when I was in college, it wasn't even funny. I had to get it chopped off. It was super short (like Jackie Reed on BET, Malinda Williams, etc). I just kept it moisturized and the heat and curling iron out of my hairs. I think longer hair is more versatile than shorter hair. There are limited styles you can wear with short styles that don't require curling and heat. :-/
I know where you're coming from. My hair was never even shoulder length until I found this forum. My hair has never been as long as it is now. I always thought that I'd be destined to have hsort hair. Now I know I can reach my goals.
