I Am Just About Over All These Challenges That I'm In...

So I'm a newbie and plead ignorance. Are you e-attacked if you join a challenge and not follow through and/or participate? Just wondering why the stress? My challenges are in my siggy. I'm still hanging in there with them but I don't post to the threads as often as I should. Please school me on challenge etiquette to ensure my members only card isn't revoked by some die-hard LHCF'r. :drunk:

In my experience there's never been any e-attacking regarding participating or whatnot. The stress, IMO, comes from the requirements of different challenges. I'm in the Official Ceramides Challenge, so I use a ceramide every DC. But if I'm also in the Castor Oil Challenge, then I have to try and remember to incorporate it. And if I'm in an ayurvedic challenge, have to make time for the pastes, oils, etc. And if I'm in a HYH challenge, finding different ways to put the hair up that doesn't become beyond boring. And if in the jherri juice challenge, remembering to moisturize the hair with a heavy glycerin based product. And depending on the types of challenges, that becomes a lot of work.

I don't do challenges anymore. I could technically be in the Curly till Christmas, Ceramides and Steam challenges, because that's what I do already. But then it's not a challenge, it's just what I do. Challenges were helpful for me in determining what WORKS for my hair, but I don't feel the need to participate in challenges that just incorporate my weekly routine already.

I too think I'm challenged out!! Though on some level I think that challenges are a good thing, but I think that some of us go over board with the challenges and they start to over lap and begin to become a chore.

My challenges are:
Hide your hair
Steaming
Ceramides
Curlly till christmas
BC to WL in 2013 spin off
SL in 2010
(I think there may be one more)

The curly till christmas and the hide your hair have proved to be the most challenging for me. I get bored with my hair very easily and because my hair is so short there are only so many things I can do to hide and there are only so many curly styles i can do. :-(

This challenge overload state I've found myself in has truly been a lesson for me.. In the future I will be realistic about which challenges are conducive to my lifestyle and personality.

I'm in a few challenges too but the only one I can remember to post is BSL2011....and thats cause I'm subscribed to the thread..The problem is I luv to join challenges but I forget which ones I'm in...I pretty much suck @ challenges..

I finally just dropped out of the challenge that was causing me stress, lol. But, I'm good till the end of the year and looking forward to all of the reveals!

I joined so many challenges, some of them conflicting, and only stuck with a few. Ive decided only to join 2 or 3 in 2011. Im so bad about posting updates like, "yeah still doing the same thing I did last week."

I know the feeling. I need to remove my challenges from my siggy. My challenge now is to learn to just take care of my hair without needing a challenge. lol

I think I'm going to join some challenges for next year when they get started up. But I will avoid get to a certain length by this time challenges.

I was like this when I first joined the forum...it's been four years so I have calmed a bit and learned to sit my challenge happy arse down. I am a member of several inactive challenges (Drink More Water, Lose Less Hair Detangling, etc.) but they are just reminders of my goals for 2010. For the most part I am happy to say that I have been successful...but that is because they work well with other challenges that I am on (a weight loss challenge which requires me to drink at least two liters of water a day and a personal 2 year C&G challenge).

I have found that challenges for me have to hold to one of my 3 rules to be successful (worthwhile) for me to join:

1) They should be in line with my overall goal. If my overall goal is a personal C&G Challenge, then it's easy to also be successful at a "Hide Your Hair" Challenge and a "Length Retention" Challenge...it's also unnecessary for me to join all of them. So I pick one challenge that is in line with my overall goal (like the Tough C&G Challenge) and join just that one instead.

OR

2) It needs to be something I am slacking on an need motivation to follow through on. I just joined the Sulfur 2011 Challenge. Adding a sulfur application to my regimen is something I have always wanted to do but have been mostly unsuccessful at. I feel as though partaking in this challenge might inspire me to come up with a real regimen and stick to it.

3) I MUST POST A BEGINNING PHOTO! If I do not post a beginning photo because I lack the time, effort or inclination, then I know right away that I will not follow through with the rest of the challenge. I mean, why even bother if you are slacking before you start.

I just dropped out of one. I am in too many. I was hoping they'd help me post and be a little more active here and get to know people but it's just causing stress.

I don't know how many I am in but only one requires I actively do something and that is the bun challenge.

I am in APL, BSL 2011
Aloe Vera challenge (easy)
Bun Challenge but it doesn't start until 2011 but I am doing it now
Sulfur Challenge
I am sure there are more but that's all I can think of

One thing that worries me is that I am doing so many things that when I get growth I won't know which one thing it was, which is why I am just bunning, moisturizing and sealing when I run out of some of my products.

I'm in too many to count, but they all tie in together in one way or another so it's not too overwhelming

@ Janet-I'm not in alot but the ones i am in I subscribe to.That way I remember to post! You're doing good though because I see you all over the boards posting-You're a trooper for sure!

The whole reason why I renewed my subscription was so that I could join the challenges at the start. I have never actually seriously tried to complete one.

I think I will stop joining challenges now because I *totally* get why people are sometimes stressed. This journey should be fun.

My challenges:

No Buy Product Challenge 2011.
Part 2 Jheri Juice
Waist Length 2012
Deep Conditioning 2010

The Rules Weight Loss Challenge

I am also doing a personal challenge to learn how to braid my hair.

No more though.

I'm "challenged out", but not for the same reasons you are.
I join challenges, don't remember I'm in them and never go back. I vow to stop joining them because now I know I won't post progress reports or updates.

Guilty:blush:
In my defence, I started off being really good and checking in! However, who was I kidding, I still can't rollerset so why did I join a rollersetting challenge...:lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen::lachen:
Any hu, ( i just fell about laughing at the above....which I just realised I did in a fit of challenge-mania).
I guess I was bored or something! Now, I'm simplifying things because I'm too lazy.
ON the one hand, that's good because I'm protective styling and moisturizing only! However, I haven't taken a progress pic in months...Maybe before Christmas I will.....a true Christmas miracle (maybe I'll also be WL).:lol::lol:

Umm...I never post in challenges.

I'm not joining LHCF Bootcamp or HYH again. I've learned how to keep my hair healthy in the past year so I don't need the restrictions.

I'm already in the MBL 2011 challenge. I may join Super Healthy Ends or something like that. But that's about it... :yep:

I only do the extremely easy challenges that I know I can pull off, BSL & MBL 2011. I'm only doing one fitness challenge as well, no eating after 7p. I'm challenged out too!

Yeah...This is an old thread revived...I was feeling some kind of way mid-year...but it's all good now :grin::grin:

I do the juice challenge and I read/write comments in other challenges that are interesting. I co-wash, oil rinse and do ayurvedic treatments. The various challenges are a great source of information for products and techniques.

I only officially join the challenges that I can keep up with....for the rest if them I "sit" on the sidelines and :curtain:

Whenever I join challenges, I'm too lazy to update often or even post pics. Since I'm transitioning, I'm cutting down on challenges. I joined the HYH 2011 because I plan on PSing till winter is over. Maybe I'll join the MBL 2011 but no more.

That is why I don't join challenges. I know that I will not stay in them for long. And since I am transitiong I am protective styling until I cut my hair next summer.
