I am brastrap length (again)

After nearly 3 years of dry, damaged ends, weak, breaking hair, major hair cuts, under processing and jacked hair in the nape area from stylist not rinsing relaxer from hair properly and/or relaxer left on the shampoo chair where my head rested, I discovered I am back at horizontal brastrap length again!!!!

Thank you LongHair Care Forum members. This would not have been possible without your help. I have learned how to stretch out my relaxers with minimal breakage, how to protect and moisturize my ends (thanks for the baggie technique Adrienne). I lost a lot of length due to dry ends and my stylist was always cutting/trimming.

I am now 11 1/2 wks past my last retouch. My ends have not been trimmed in several months, they do not look dry and a split end is rare. What a great Christmas present for me!!!!!!!!

That is wonderful Cherricola, I'm currently recovering in the nape area from similar issues you had. Glad to see you're back at brastrap!

Congratulations Cherricola. Are you now aiming for waistlength?

Hi Skegesmb and thanks for the congrats. I do plan to aim for waistlength now.

Your welcome, someday, I wish to reach that length, cuase my hair is ear length, and has split ends, thick and dry.

Thanks everybody.
Caralexis,
I do a kind of modified baggie method. I pull my hair into a ponytail with a satin centered scrunchie, then I spray the ponytail with Rosewater (today I plan to start using surge to spray with). Next I apply gingelly oil. It is a watery type oil green in color that I found at an Indian grocery store. It has a slightly strong odor which fades away. I plan to try CDHHB in place of the gingelly oil tonight.

I smooth my pony tail which is moist, not dripping wet and then slide it into a fold over sandwich bag, twist the top closed and secure it with a scruncii super bobby pin.

I don't have to worry about excess oil dripping out. After a few hours or when I get up the next morning I have nice moisturized ends which are straight and easy to comb through and my hair is not wet.

The products I use vary according to how long it's been since my last touchup. Right now at more than 11 weeks I am using KeraCare detangling shampoo. Last week when I shampooed, I used Kera Care, rinsed, applied gingelly oil, then Joico K-Pak over the oil for 5 min covered with a plastic cap. Then rinsed and used the Humecto and rinsed it out. My hair was so easy to comb. Most of the time after towel drying I apply Liquid Hair Mayo and it gives lots of slip. Surge Lotion is good also even though it does contain mineral oil.

I just used CDHHB after washing and conditioning and it is wonderful on my new growth.

I plan to post pictures as soon as my 10 yr old son gives me a "how to" lesson and I get my retouch. Last time I held out for 13 weeks. I hope to go for 16 weeks this time.

If I'd had this great information years ago, I could have easily been waistlength.

Oh, how could I forget! My seamless comb has been a hair saver.

Wow!! That sounds like a success story if I ever heard one

Congratulations on your come back!

I hear you on the Christmas present thing. After all the money I spend on hair care I'm going to start looking at my hair as my present to me for Christmas and my B'day.
