I am also really thinking about the \"N\" word

going all natrual. I love the feel of my new growth, and I hate getting relaxer because I miss rhe feel of my new growth. My hair is not at its best right now I have some scalp issues. I think not getting a relaxer will really help heal my scalp. I have a few questions about going natural: 1. Do I have to get the big chop? 2.Are there any special products I should uses? 3. Can I continue CO washes? Please answer some or all of my question. Please feel free to give ANY advice.

Congrats on your dscision! Of course you dont have to big chop (although I did). There are so many people on this board that are transitioning i cant even name all of them. I dont know about special products though. Conditioner washes are the best thing for my natural hair, and you will definitely benefit from them if you have relaxed hair. Transitioners tend to really like co washes because from what Ive read it really helps softens the new growth. If you have anymore questions about the big chop feel free to pm me and check out my album in my profile if you'd like!!!! hth!!!!!!!!

Congratualtions on your decision to go natural!

Definitely continute the condition washes...it saved my hair...allowed me to keep my permed ends as long as I needed the length...and kept my natural roots from fighting the permed ends they remained flexible and strong.

I wore my hair in a style that closely resembled my natural hair...I didnt try to force the new growth to lay flat...that is definitly how I was able to keep my length so long...the natural hair is stronger than the permed...so if you fight it...it will not respond well.

Shea butter saved my hair...it made it so soft...kept the moisture in...KEY POINT...make sure you are using humectant type conditioners for your conditioner washes...but spritzing with a protein type leave in to help your relaxed ends until you are ready to cut them off.

Transitioning was fun to me...I learned alot about my hair...my views of beauty...products...and when I was ready to cut off the relaxed ends...I did it without thinking...I would not have done anything different...except maybe stayed natural from the beginning...Shoot...if I had done that years ago...I'd probably have waist length natural hair by now...
