How to thin out a wig?

Does anyone know how to thin out a wig to look more natural? I just bought an outre' instant wig (wavy style)and it is beautiful, but it is too bulky and big on my little head. I'm scared to let someone else do it cuz they might mess it up. Any suggestions.......Anyone????

good question..
speacial hair thinning shears might have worked if the hair were not too wavy.
