Ladies how do u smooth a relaxer with a touch up? Do u comb it threw the relaxed parts or do u use the back of the comb?

Pinch?

I use my gloved fingers and light pressure. Really it's more like arranging the hairs than smoothing them.

I do the same thing! I just take sections of hair and "pinch" the relaxer smooth near the roots. This helps prevent overprocessing for me b/c I concentrate only on the NG.

When I smooth I use the back of the comb about 95% of the time and I'm pressing down about 2-3 times then moving on. I finish up with my fingers. I may be touching it too much though.

With gloves on, I apply the relaxer with a color applicator brush, and then literally "beat" the relaxer into the ng with my thumb!!!

I use my fingers and the back of the comb, but there are some sections that I go through with the teeth of the comb. It's a no-no, but I seriously doubt my crown would get straight with just the back of the comb.

Neither. I apply and smooth with my gloved fingers. I get better control and can feel the edge of the new growth and the hair as it's relaxing.

Don't comb relaxer through your hair, it puts too much stress on the hair. Many relaxers will specifically state not to comb.

Ladies, I do have a problem with smoothing too.
How do you protect a sensitive scalp other than a vaseline base? If I smooth my hair to the scalp I will get a terrible shedding after. But if I just smooth it between my fingers it won´t relax enough
What do you think?
TIA

I apply with a tint brush and smooth, once, while applying. I apply a LOT of product and use the weight of it to help, because I want the least amount of manipulation as possible.
