How to Shampoo WEAVE

... is there a best practices for products, drying, etc?
I have a very long weave and I plan to wash it this coming weekend.
Any tips??

A few tips:

- Don't pile all the hair on top of your head like you see in the commercial. Will cause extreme tangling.
- I would do at least one lather with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product build-up, sweat...etc. Then do one or two more lathers with a moisturizing shampoo.
- It's important to make sure YOUR hair is clean as well. The best way is to mix some shampoo and water in a bottle and spray your braids underneath and gentle massage.
- When you're finished washing, dry your braids as well as can. You don't want mold/mildew developing.

I agree with the applicator bottle. And honestly I would skip the shampoo all together.

^^^ nooooo don't skip the shampoo, uh- uh u don't want to be a smelly cat. Without the weave, conditioner only is great, but with a weave all that dandruff and product builds up. I say skip the clarifying shampoo b/c it might be too harsh and since u can't feel ur hair won't know. Do the shampoo bottle thing, no needs to use loads of it, and let it sit there for a while to really break up the oils and grease , then rinse out. If u have a hand held shower thats even better. Move around the tracks so that the water really hits it.

As for drying:
Slow and healthy: towel dry the weave hair, or blow dry just the weave hair if u want then let ur hair air dry for the day. If still slightly moist blow dry on medium between the tracks and then style with flat iron or whatevah.

Faster: u cud go under a Sitting hair dryer for an hour or 90 minutes. No need to rollerset the weave hair, just move it around to allow air flow to ur braids. Don't kill urself trying to get the ends of the long weave dry under there. Blow dry that after.

Tip: blow drying cornrows completely dry is extremely tedious and ur arm will hurt, and most likely after u give up the actual braid will still be damp and will re-wet the roots of ur hair. If the weave is kinky/yaki, u will end up with frizz even if u completely blow dried the weave first. If the hair is curly it wont matter. So start early for straight/yaki, air dry while doing something else, and then later finish up and style.

Yes, I installed myself and I want to wash it myself. The last time I put it a weave was hmm, 2 summers ago and it was WNG hair. I have to dry and style this hair as I would my own.

Carmelella Thank you SOOO much!!! I planned to shampoo in the shower and sit under my standing dryer while watching a movie. Seems this fits withint the guidelines you've listed. Thanks again!
