hey guys

I have a good question to put out there. My hairs grows to a pretty nice length but everytime it does its gets thin. I do not do anything to my hair but wash and set and blow dry the roots for the msot part. is this normal. I read an article that suggested us to put some like hair lotion or moisturizer on the parts of our hair that wouldnt be getting relaxed right before a relaxer to prevent the relaxer from processing our already relaxed hair when rinsed out. I think that is a very good idea. And I only get my roots blown out now. I dunno if that just the way my hair is or is there something else I can do to fix the problem..Even when i get my hair trimmed it always grown back thin at the ends... i mean the rest of my hair is pretty healthy its just those darn ends... any feedback guys?

It sounds like your hair is healthy. I guess the question I would have is, "Why are your ends thin?" For my hair, when I am growing to longer lengths, the newer, longer hair is always thinner than the bulk of my hair. So, I let my hair go and grow to the next length, for example, bra-strap. Then I keep those few hairs at that length, and keep trimming it. Eventually, the rest of my hair drops in length and adds to the longer hair making my hair fuller at this new longer length. It sounds like to me that might be what your hair is doing, growing to newer, longer lengths. The short answer would be if that is the case, then you may need more time for those ends to get fuller and a more goal oriented, stategic way to trim your hair.

ITA. That is what I am doing right now. I will be BSL this year and once the longest hairs make it there, I will keep trimming it back to BSL w/ each relaxer so that the rest of my hair can catch up, therefore making my hair and ends fuller.

1. make sure you or your stylist is not overlapping your relaxer. and that you protect your ends with an oil or conditioner whn you are relaxing.

2. do you use heat?

3. are you moisturizing and sealing regularly?

if the above are not issues then like the other ladies said, the way your hair grows out might be the reason why.

read this article about thinning ends.

@ Chicoro - that's a good regimen :yep: When your hair is the same length, it appears thicker.

@ OP - I would lay off the heat for a while and consider texlaxing

Well,,, I agree with Chicoro,, that is a definite possibility. Another possibility is that your hair is breaking as its growing in certain area... if the back of your hair lets say is growing without breakage but your having breakage in the front or sides you may have thin ends,,, do a very close, well lit examination of your ends all over your head,, make sure theyre healthy. Maybe you are not trimming enough when you trim so theres still damage further up the shaft and thats breaking creating thin ends again.. lol Theres many possibilities... you'll have to use the process of elimimination i guess..
