I alternate between hot oil treatments and protein deep conditions.

If it's a hot oil week, I'll heat up some olive oil and distribute on my scalp and the length of my hair drenching the ends, then I'll wash it out and follow up with my moisture deep conditioner.

If it's protein I'll just add the condtioner to my hair and sit under the dryer for 7-10 minutes, rinse, shampoo, than add a moisturizing deep conditioner.

- Prepoo (alternate the two)
Protein:
ORS Hair Mayo and egg for 20 mins. DC w/ heat for 45 mins. Use KeraCare moisturizing leave-in.

Moisture:
For dirty and itchy scalp.....
1 cup Keracare conditioner for color-treated hair
Two tablespoons each.....
EVOO (treatment for damaged, dry hair, superior penetrating power)
Tea tree oil (antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal)
Peppermint oil (promotes hair growth)
Sleep in overnight
-or-
Apply Nexxus humectin and EVOO and sleep in it overnight

There's lots of threads about pre-pooing where you can get ideas while you're waiting for answers, just do a quick google search (I searched prepoo and pre poo and got lots back).

Anyway, I always oil my dry hair with coconut oil before I wash which i guess counts as a prepoo. I do it on dry hair and basically I make sure that all my hair is pretty saturated with it, especially the ends. I leave it on for 15+ minutes and then proceed with my regular washing.

But some people do it on wet hair, with or w/o heat, with or w/o a cap, etc. etc. Basically, you can use pretty much anything, however you want to use it.

My favorite prepoo is some sort of protein under the dryer or overnight, because I can proceed with my regular wash afterward and rinse off with a moisture condition, and not have to jump in and out of the shower. My faves are ORS hair mayo, Aphogee 2-min Reconstructor, and lately, Aubrey Organics.

I used to love this concoction: EVOO, Coconut oil, Humectress, and coconut milk, and heat it up, and sit under the dryer. Yum!

Oil is a quick one, over night or for a few minutes (it helps protect against stripping shampoos), and proceed with regular wash.

I just use EVOO as a pre-poo. Leave it a few minutes and wash it out

Basically what these ladies said...I prepoo mainly b/c I use a Shakaki bar to shampoo and it is very drying and must Indian women I have spoken said to oil b4 shampooing....(they usually just apply oil, bun, and wash the next day)

U can make mixtures but idk...I feel like try 1 thing at a time see what ur hair likes...I think 1 or 2 oils is ok to prepoo...KISS!!! HTH

I've used Burt's Bees Avocado Butter Pre-Poo Treatment. It's pretty good but not too easy to find. I got it from Whole Foods for about $10. If you can swing it for your hair care regimen, go for it! Best of luck to you!

Same. I completely saturate my hair in EVOO, leave it on for 30 mins or more, then continue with my normal washing.
