I really would like to know how to maintain bantu knots. So far I have made about 24 and this took about an hour and 30 mins. I cannot do this everyday:ohwell:, so what is the best way to have nice looking curls after the bantu knots outs?

I'm over here feeling for you. I wish I could offer some help, but I just end up redoing them, but I normally don't wear them for more than 2 days in a row anyway.....I'd like to know too. Okay people, we've got TWO seasoned newbies (yes, I'm claiming it as confused and green as I am) over here in need of help.

Hey, newbies!

I wish I had more info for you! I usually do them and it takes about an hour, and with this Texas heat/humidity, I always have to do them again the next night, even if I have sprayed some humidity resistance mist on it before I leave the house. Needless to say, I do better with them in the winter, but I am so picky about how it looks, I redo them in the winter too.

Maybe someone else can chime in and help!?

Hey guys!

I do bantu knot outs all the time (like right now lol). I do the bantu knots on wet hair and add moisturizer (oyin honey hemp conditioner) before I twist them up. I usually let them dry over night and take them out the next day.

Generally, mine last for about a week. I can wear a curly fro for 2-3 days. Then I start pinning it up in some kind of style, usually two flat twists to the back. I spray some leave in on every morning and evening (oyin juices and berries).

The most important thing I've found is to make sure they dry ALL the way. That way the curls are tighter and will stay longer. I pull them apart more and more as the days go by. I put my satin bonnet on at night. That's pretty much it.

Hope this helps!

Ladies have asked the same thing about maintaining braidouts. I haven't tried a bantu out yet but have you tried pin curls? I use pin curls to maintain my rollersets and they are easy to do. :)

Well I did them....
And they are so pretty and curly , I am really happy however they are about ear length lol!!!! Today I will try only doing 12 bantu knots, and maybe I can do less and less throughout the week.
They are sooo curly that even when I comb them, it doesn't lessen the curl!!! LOL
