How to install braid extensions?

Okay, so ive literally been looking everywhere for this and i cant find clear information. How do you install braid extensions? And by install im mean the part when you grab the hair. I already know the loop and twist method, but for me that doesnt give the clean professional look that I want, and when i wash my hair it doesnt hold well. I want to know the method that the braiding shops use which is when they split the extension in two and then apply it. That way hold on better but i never could figure it out.
