how to get the best rollerset on natural or relaxed hair

Wow!!!!!!!! Under the dryer as we speak.

I never tried a ponytail rollerset but today is the day. I used end papers not paper towels though.

My hair is thick though so I'm going to be under this dryer forever. Not a big deal though since it takes less time to set.

I bought some of those ouchless rubbetbands instead of regular rubber bands.

I will report back.

Rollerest turned out great the first time but I used bigger sections. This time I'm using smaller sections.

I only added a little serum to my hair so we will see.

Oh the rubber bands keep breaking :/

She used paper towels but I used end papers and I think this helped me to roll the roller tighter...

I have so many thoughts beccause I can roll a curly set no problem but the straight sets are always a struggle for me.

Glad to hear it came out nicely. I'll be re-trying a pony set next week.
I tried it quite a while back and it was not good but i'm way more experienced with sets now

using end papers seems hella tedious on a regular set but with a pony set it seems like no biggie

Ok so the set using the smaller ponytails turned out better.

I wet the section root to tip then put the rubberband in.

I ponytailed my whole head first then went back and rollled the ponytail.

I rewet the length of the ponytail before rolling.

Set under the dryer for one hour.

I like that she saran wrapped for 30 mins. Never seen a you tuber saran wrap for that long.

Sorry guys but I really want a awesome straight rollerset.

didnt work lol. didnt dry so well and got frizzy... but my hair was so soft.
and my roots in front are so silky! usually they look all dry and gross after i iron them out but this time they seem much healthier.
I'm going to try ponysetting only the front parts next time I rollerset

I cannot use anything she says as an example because she has one of the best heads/hair on youtube. My 4c hair cannot do any of the things hers does. Sista can blow dry hair with a blowtorch and still have hair on her head.

Everything you said about her unicorn hair.

Haha! I was just thinking this. My 4c would spit in my face. She looks like a type 2-3. Her strands are already smooth before the set.

That denman would have me with bald spots.

For my last wash I tried the ponytail roller set with some SM detangler mixed with some APB leave in and water, as well as the paper towels ( shoot.. I figured why not lol). My hair too forever to dry but I will say that my hair felt smoother and the roots were stretched somewhat... Her hair type looks looser than mine cause mine are tight as all get out and it can be difficult to stretch.

i think i will give it a try.
my 4 type hair has fine and medium strands. my hair is kind of easy to straighten.

i might try this out today or tomorrow. on this 4b of mine :-)

ok so i tried it out! im transitionning, im at 10 months post.
so i shampooed/ clarified
dc very well.
rinsed, oil rinsed with amla oil •
did 4 sections, added apoghee green tea leave in on the ends (rollerset area), put leave in on roots (cantu shea).
i rollerset and sat under dryer like 40 min.result: nice bouncy hair
for thé first time.... i did not put serum:

i pinned it up for tonight. i will flat iron roots tomorrow

So I perfected it! For me. Lol

First of all I purchased some quality conditioners. Joico from Marshalls

Then I added my serum.

I did 7 ponytails because I flatironed.

Turned out great!

Stopped flatironing but I'm doing this 3x a week now. My hair needs the moisture.

I shampoo once a week and co wash tube other two times. Sweating in my head from working out is making my hair dry.

Did you have to flat iron your roots? How straight did it turn out?

as my ends were very very smooth, it was best to flat iron the roots. my hair was very well stretched though so it was easy to flat iron.
i thing if you want to avoid flat ironing you should part more sections (i only did 4 ponytails).

my hair was all straight and it was moisturized. i stayed days without needing to moisturize it.

i satin wrapped at night. or is it called saran wrap? i only used a silk scarf. and Bobby pins.

I was trying hard to keep those contacts from distracting me...

LOL :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Her hair is very pretty

I can only do a rollerset on a ponytail if I just want to refresh my straightened hair if the ends look/feel dry. My hair is very thick and if I even attempted this type of rollerset on freshly washed hair I'd look a hot mess LOL

Yes, I watch her videos for entertainment purposes only. :lachen:
