LOL@ you already got the popcorn ready!

I would NEVER change my hair texture if you paid me.

ok i watched that video... first of all it has not escaped my notice that a video talking about making 'kinky hair straight' is set to a tune called 'right as rain' mmk... second of all, is the idea that doing this will permanently alter the texture of the hair or how is this different from a relaxer.... third of all it is news to me that acidic products will change the texture of your hair - are we talking about curl pattern here or texture... fourth of all i did an acv rinse the other day for the first time and i didnt feel like it clarified my hair bc basically all i did was poor some diluted vinegar on it and then rinse it out sooooooo i dont get the whole acv rinsing thing in general

shrug

I found this on another hair forum

What are your thoughts?

i kept waiting for a punchline....

:pop:

I thought the punchline is @2:34 where she says her friend's hair has gone from 4c to 3 whatever - and yet the friend has a relaxer. But then again s/he's also responding to commenters like this stuff works. smh Watch for a small spike in apple cider vinegar sales somewhere I guess.

It sounds like old naturally curly (the website) back in the early 00s.

If she titled it "Natural Relaxer" the vid would have 50k views by now.

SN: I can't stand YT videos with typos in them, it's just nonsense.

ETA: Solitude the song is off Adele's album 19.

from the comparison picture.....did anyone see 3 type curls? i didn't. I saw 4a. She went from 4 to a more moisturized 4a. what is she talking about.

she should have just said look at how i do a vinegar co wash

I don't get all the fascination with acv, cocnut lime, breast milk... People coming up with all types of magical concoctions to loosen your curl pattern. I have a magical mixture too, it's called a relaxer, wouldn't even take 6 months, 20 minutes go from type 4 to type 1

I don't get the obsession with a "natural" relaxer.

I definitely understand the obsession, as you call it. Relaxers are harsh, caustic chemicals. People search for texture "softeners" or "looseners" for "manageability" and other reasons. Putting some yogurt in your hair is way far down on the spectrum from a relaxer. I'm team do-what-you-wanna-do-with-your-hair, but I don't agree with how she words it.

If the pics are true, it also giving some truth behind shewhomustnotbenamed pH testing. And yah, that definitely ain't 3C. *shrug* :lachen: @ 3A 2011 comment!

Whoops! Thanks for the correction! I always hear it on my Amy Winehouse station on Pandora...! :spinning:

I hadn't really thought of the chemical damage aspect of it since I never really had any issues with relaxers damaging my hair. Allrighty then, I guess I see why some people might find these solutions attractive.

Honestly, my opinion is that it's a video designed to stir up controvery. I dont' know if it's serious or not. I'm leaning toward the 'it is meant to be serious' side.

This comment is bothering me:

thanks so much for this video it makes me want to go natural now... i was afraid that i wouldn't get the curl pattern i wanted

Le sigh

...Jesse's daughter:lachen:

i find this hilarious i really do i cant help it:lachen:let them pour the vinegar and hope for a curl carry on i will be here waiting for the aftermath:yep:

I didn't know whether to be :perplexed or to  so I choose to do both. This can't be life. It just can't be. In 2011? And we have a Black family in the White House? Attourney General? Black teachers, professors, lawyers, cops, and otherwise productive members of society?

Nah son. Just can't be. :ohwell: :nono: :perplexed

OMG! Your niece! She is beautiful!!!

Sorry but you can't go from Celie to Whitley Gilbert and still call yourself a natural.

Um, excuse me, I thought both Celie and Whitley were natural...And if they made a post about natural relaxers or loosening the texture, then the same people who relax, texturize or what have you would be on there. So whats new?

It's funny that the first set of pics are of dry hair and the second moisturized hair. There are so many misguided people in the world.
