It looks like your hair gets pretty straight from airdrying in twists, so here is what I would do next:

Start at the nape and use the tail of a rat tooth comb to make a horizontal section about 1/2 inch thick. Take a section from there no wider than the flat iron then flat iron the section. I do one pass with my maxiglide set on 6, then one pass with my FHI set on 370. Continue working in rows until you get to the top of your head. Then you can work ear to ear to complete the top.

My hair is very coarse and nappy, but with patience I am able to get silky straight hair. I also use ZERO product after rinsing the conditioner to get maximum swing.

Blowdry when your hair is about 80% dry, just to stretch and smooth it a bit before you flat iron. Use a bit of product formulated to protect the hair prior to heat application. Your sections to be flat ironed should be no higher than 1/4 - 1/2 inch. I recommend testing your heat setting on a small section of hair in the nape area before proceeding. If needed, increase the setting until you find the lowest one that will give you the results you desire. HTH!

Thank you for your advice Caligirl, you're not afraid of heat damage since you don't use heat protectant?

Yes, it should be dry before you apply the flat iron. And thanks for the compliment!

I deep condition my hair weekly, so I feel like its in pretty good shape. I feel like what ever is left in my hair after the deep conditioner is enough protection, lol.
