How should I clean my CHI?

I've only just recently started using my CHI (and I *love* it) . . . I'm using an IC spritz to protect my hair. So far, no gunk has built up on the plates, but given how expensive it is, I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to clean them off regularly. How do you ladies do it?

I saw somewhere to clean plates with rubbing alcohol while the plates were warm/hot.

Sedu sells an iron cleaner. It's a spray you put on your iron then just wipe . I believe is somewhere around 7.99.
