I have recently began wearing clip in hair and I am in loooove with them. Do anyone on this board wear them as well? Are they damaging? and if so how do I prevent them from damaging my real hair? Any tips will be appreciated. TIA

Which ones do you wear and where did you get them? I have worn them in the past. I don't think you should have a problem. I would avoid wearing them to bed and if you have new growth. You don't want that comb ripping through your textured hair and cause breakage.

imo, i wore clip ins for a long time, and wore them to bed...

they broke off most of my hair. i will never, ever wear them again. they are great for special occasions, weddings and stuff because clip in easily and very easy to conceal, add body. but other than once in a while, i would never wear them again.

Thank you for the tips.

I actually made them myself. I purchased some FAB synthetic hair and created this look. My hair is thick. I have in about 5-6 tracks in these pics.

My real hair is shoulder/chin lenght. It blends pretty well, though. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. I never wear them to bed.

Any other tips ladies?

WOW that's scary.:nono: I'm sorry that happened to you.

Can you elaborate on what you did to cause the breakage? Did you wear them all the time, did you forget to moisturize? There must be a reason for the breakage.

I am wearing a clip in my hair right now, because I am freshly relaxed my hair has been flatironed, and I'm working so I have on a cashmeire sweater right now that I don't want my ends rubbing up against. So sitting at the PC I have my hair clipped up. I was in a meeting earlier, I took my hair down.

I always oil my hair clips before using them as someone stated in another thread. I am careful about removal and insertion, and I see NO BREAKAGE.

I think a clip is better than having your ends rub against your wool sweater all afternoon. It works for me. Just be careful, and like someone said, don't clip it in new growth!

One of my friends wears them & I asked her to show me how to wear them too, but she refused. She said my hair WILL break off from the clips & she knows I want to grow my hair out badly so she wouldn't do that to me!

Why does she still wear them? She's actually going to stop soon and get a sew-in.

I love em! Do not exp breakage

I would not sleep with them in though and make sure to moisturize and remove them carefully.
