how often do you leave your hair "down"?

whether it's flat ironed, stretched, or a wash n go or anything else? Do you notice a lot of differences between periods of leaving it down often vs. putting it up in a bun or braid or anything?

I've always preferred wearing my hair down to up, but now it's a lot shorter so I guess it's close to being put "up" because it doesn't touch my shoulders. My ends are amazing! I think it's really all about how much you take care if them though, I believe you can wear your hair however with very little difference as long as you BABY YOUR ENDS!

Eta: ponytails and buns actually give me headaches

HHG!

I usually wear my hair up but I've been trying to wear it down more often so that I can enjoy my hair more.
I will admit buns were a treat for a while when my hair finally got to a length that I could actually do a nice bun, but now they don't do it for me.

Rarely, but I want to more often. Honestly, I don't like wearing my hair up and it makes me feel quite self conscious

I wear my hair down the vast majority of the time, and keep trying to wear my hair up more often :look:. For my hair wearing a wash n'go and wearing a braidout clipped up gives me the same "results." Wearing twists and twist/braidouts for stretches of time will cause damage, so I have ended up incurring damage while trying to protective style :ohwell:. That's an issue I'm juggling now.

Very rare. I love my hair in buns or twists. I love my hair up. When I do wear my hair down it is only for a length check which is done when the weather gets much cooler outside. Or if I wear in a curly puff/braid out.

For the past year it was down 4-5x a week (flat ironed)

Now that I'm back into the swing of protective styling it'll rarely be down b/c I love keeping it up and out the way. I enjoy my length every single wash day and I will probably wear it out (i.e. "reveal") when I reach WL or TBL

95% of the time my hair is in a bun. The other 5% is after flat iron, length check or if i'm feeling myself. I love my hair down .. I just can't stand having hair (or anything) touching my face, so when it's down it's bobby pinned away from my face.

I've worn my hair down for the last few years in twist outs or some kind of out style 95% of the time. Most recently I've started to wear buns - since April when I started posting pictures.

I can retain more length with buns but I grew out my natural hair because I wanted to see it in natural styles, not always pinned up or hidden away. It's a catch 22. I want to grow it longer but I also want to wear it out often.

very rarely. I prefer how i look with my hair down but it's just troublesome. It gets in the way, gets caught in things, gets tangled easily and it's hot. Also, now that it's summer it will dry out. :/

My hair does better in buns. I believe my hair length can be almost completely be attributed to protective styling.

@AlliCat I remember there was a thread where it was asked how most wl + wore their hair and I think most of the responses were in some type of protective style. MBL imo is the best hair to wear out all the time.

At least one week out of the month. Sometimes more. I love my hair down and styled. I just "like" the other stuff too and found my medium.

I wear it down about once a week now. Its definitely breaking and shedding too much because of this. Usually i bun all the time

I don't at all. Life for me is just better that way. Maybe next year when I'm more satisfied with my hair.

Please excuse my iPhone; it's trying to get it together

Having my hang swang is a treat for speacial occasions or events. On a day to day while at work or just running errands on the weekend, not at all. It's too hot (live in FL) to have my hair hanging on the regular.

I try to wear it down once a week so that I can enjoy my hair. When I wear it out I usually wear it in a braidout.

Almost every dad. Today I have it in a bun though. My skin was blemished and having it down helped me feel a bit better. Now that my skin is looking clearer, I am putting it up. Plus it is summer time and hair makes me hot, LOL!

Maybe 2x a month with a twist out. Hardly ever straightened with a flat iron. Last time this hair saw a flat iron was in 2011 with the next date set to Fall 2014. However I blowdry every quarter and might do a Bantu know out after the blow dry.
