My protective styles are usually long term (3-5 weeks) so no combing during that time. When I take my hair down I lubricate my hair and first use my fingers, then my Denman D41 for shed hair removal. I like how little hair I lost during my last takedown session, and attribute it to using my fingers for longer before bringing in the brush.

During wash and DC process, I use one of these first two wide toothers to distribute conditioner and remove any tangles, and the third is my regular styling comb.

I have a bunch of combs, but these seamless ones are pretty much all I use now.

I use a seamless comb. It makes a huge difference. No more snapping of my ends!!!

I'm so excited! I just bought this seamless comb (in attachments), and it was pretty reasonable in price!

I just read through this thread. so far it appears that people who seldom comb their hair are natural where as those who comb daily have relaxed hair. As for me I have relaxed hair and comb my hair 2x day. I tried combing only on wash days but it does not work for me. My hair thrives when I sparingly use some oil and comb daily.

Every day.

I was just going to start a thread asking relaxed ladies how they can bun for a week straight and not comb their hair daily. How do you keep it neat overnight and all? :spinning: Especially if you don't use gel.

I used to comb once a day when I relaxed but now that I am natural I only comb on wash days now. I use a regular detangler but I am considering purchasing the Sagerman (sp?) Magic Star Combs and brushes. I like how these look and the fact that they are seamless combs makes all the difference for me. Thanks Charzboss for your YT review on these combs.

I comb my hair whenever I FEEL like it, but at least once per day. Sometimes maybe 3 or 4 times, depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going.

I can't get down with the whole "fear factor" that seems to permeate the forum - afraid to comb, afraid to blowdry, afraid to flatiron - why the heck have long hair if you have to be afraid to touch it? I touch it all day, every day and I'm not ashamed.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just in from the Cavs game, I'm overly excited and can't sleep, lol!

Haha I just get paranoid, especially if you've set deadlines for yourself. I mean you can afford to loose some hair when your armpit length and beyond, if your stuck in a fricken shoulder length ditch you want to save every precious hair that you can!

Just wanted to get a general consensus. Also, just for fun, what kind of comb do you use?
I have to comb my hair every day. I use watered down Kenra and watered down CFCG. If I don't comb it every day my hair gets mad and locks up causing massive tangles!!! Of course I use a wide tooth comb and wear it down every day.

I voted other, because I comb in the shower and before I might put mini twists in my hair. Or when I'm bored and decide to deep condition, which could happen a few times per week. I tend to use a comb a lot because I reck my hands and nails at my job (in a car component factory, with sharp plastic and drying fabric) and if I tried to finger comb.... I would, more than likely rip out hair.

Now I use a shower comb but I will be ordering a seemless bone comb next payday.

I voted twice a day or more because I style every morning and I roll my hair with satin sponge rollers at night which requires that I use a comb. I use a variety of combs including the Jilbere shower comb, an extremely wide tooth comb, and a rake style comb that I love.

This is exactly the type of comb I use. I comb conditioner through once. And after I apply my product, I brush it through with my Denman. I use a regular brush for my edges. Other than that, I don't do anything else to it all day (except have my hands all in it! :) ).

I comb only on wash days. I use a k-cutter comb on my hair.

Hey Ag, how's everything? I'm really loving your natural hair. It's gorgeous :yep:.

My hair is natural and I comb every time I cowash which is every other day. I used to wash and comb once a week and at the end of the week my hair would be tangle city and full of knots. Now I comb every other day with conditioner and a shower comb under running water and I lose much less hair.

i comb on wash days as well as in between as needed. by as needed i mean when my hair tells me to. that means sometimes i only comb on wash days and sometimes i comb every few days. i get this weird itchy feeling when i need to comb (on non-wash days) and after i comb that feeling goes away.

Since I have seamless combs I comb my hair whenever I want to. So it just depends on the style and if need a comb to make it look nice. I always make sure to comb my hair when I wash to get out all my shed hair.

Once a week with the Ouidad Dbl Detangler. Co-washing every other day with finger combing.

I comb on wash days and when styling about every 10-15 days. I use a large tooth comb to wash and a fine tooth comb to smooth & untangle any remaining knots while styling. ...im always searching for better combs & combing methods.

1x a month when my hair is loose on wash day~ With a bone comb. Other than that its in cornrows (which I wash weekly).

I comb my hair everyday after applying my moisturizer and oil with a wide tooth comb. I hardly comb it when it is wet unless there is a lot of conditioner in my hair and I have tangles that I really have to get out then I'll use a shower comb. I don't brush it all the time but I always comb any tangles out before attempting to brush my hair.

1x per day using a shower comb or wide tooth comb.. Cant wait.. or atleast I'm hoping when I get more length I can cut back to only combing on wash/condi days :yep: I'm hopeful

I comb my hair twice a week. Once when I cowash and once on my wash day. I've learned that if I wet hair that isn't detangled, I'm left with a mess on my hands. So before I wet my hair I have to detangle.

I have a seamless comb, but I first use my fingers to detangle in sections and then the comb being very gentle.

I comb my hair on co-wash days which are normally everyday. If I don't, my hair gets really tangled and is a nightmare when I finally do comb it.
When I'm straight, I comb my hair multiple times a day.

Well for me I only comb under running water with a wide tooth combs on my DC days. So I had to go with other since that's not really with wash days lol.

I just comb when I co-wash to detangle my hair with the jiberre comb while I still have the conditioner in it.
