Hey Fam,

I'm not trying to call anyone out. I'm just curious as to what others do. I used to tithe. Then I stopped. Now I want to start giving regularly again, but I don't think I can afford a full 10% of my gross income . . . may start out with 5%. (Part of the reason I want to reduce the tithe is because I want to start giving regularly to a local charity that does alot of good work in the community.)

Just wondering what others do . . . .

Thats between God and the person. Your giving/tithing should be about your 10% of your income, not about others/comparing.:look: Now can I borrow 10 dollars for 2 gallons of gas?:lachen:

Please don't stone me for this, but honey when God said bring ALL the tithes and offering to the store house that's what He meant. So take care of His and He will take care of yours. You don't have to worry about not being able to afford 10% because if you're obeying God and trusting Him with all of your increase then He will supply to make up for any lack that you have.

Wanted to concur about the tithing relationship being personal. Tithe does mean "tenth".

More importantly, I wanted to gently say that tithing/giving takes FAITH and TRUST... putting the things of the LORD FIRST....

Proverbs 3:9-10: "Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."

I am a witness that when I take my tithes OFF THE TOP, putting the things of the Lord first, He has provided for me, even in areas where money could not reach.

I'll start by saying, I am a tither. And God will bless you for giving. But..IMO..it is even more important that you are a good steward over your finances. Even if you give your tithe first, buying a new dress instead of paying your electricity bill is not a wise thing to do.

Just my two-cents

Yep, this is exactly what my mother has been telling me all these years.

I tithe 10% and divide it up equally between my four Sundays. I will also give an occassional offering when I can.

I give my 10% and let God bless the other 90%.

Give your 10% by faith and watch your circumstances change. Make sure you pray over every seed you sow. We tithe plus offering just as the bible states. An offering is up to you, you decide how much. My hubby gets paid every two weeks so we tithe those weeks but on the other weeks we give an offering and its not a nickel and diming offering either. I trust that I will get back what I gave 100 fold. He said he will pour me out a blessing that I won't have room enough to receive. Thats in Malachi. So if you do nothing else tithe and trust GOD to make everything work out in your finances.
